Jeff Wargo 20 questions
1. Where do you see ghost hunting and Paranormal groups, or ghost
Tours like your own in 10 years?
I think that as time moves on and the "new age" becomes
mainstream, ghost hunting, paranormal groups, and ghost tours will
become extremely popular and accepted. With all the turmoil in the
world today, people are seeking the assurance that there is a life
after this one. Things, such as these, help people to have that hope.
2. What would you consider to be the definitive proof that ghosts
are real?
My own experiences or, in other words, the experiences individuals
have with the paranormal--especially when those experiences happen
to skeptics. I need no other proof than what I have seen and recorded
first hand.
3. What is the most real evidence you have uncovered so far?
I have a photograph taken during one of our ghost tours of the front
bedroom in our house. No one was home at the time and the image of
a man standing in the window is clearly visible in this photograph.
There is even a picture from the side of the house taken seconds before
that shows the spirit in profile.I have a second photo of the specter
of a woman with a parasol taken on a street corner near our cemetery.
I have eyewitness accounts of people having seen this woman. Now I
have photographic evidence too.
4. Are you skeptical of the claims other make of their findings?
Yes. I am a skeptic at heart and really was unsure of all of this
paranormal business before I moved to Riegelsville.
Since writing my books, I have encountered many "ghost hunters"
per say (of which I really don't consider myself to be one). Some
of these folks are trying too hard to see something that is obvious
when it happens. I had one local group come and concoct very strange
findings from our buildings--none of which coincide with the known
knowledge of the sites.
There are some folks who just want so badly to experience something
that they see ghosts in every photo or noise recorded.

5. If you could investigate your "Dream Haunted Hot Spot"
where would it be?
I have two: Alcatraz and the Queen Mary.
6. What was your first Paranormal encounter?
My very first paranormal encounter happened when I was 9 and my grandfather
died. The night of his funeral, I went upstairs to bed and saw him
standing at the end of the hallway. He walked into my parents' bedroom
and vanished.
7. What scares you about Ghost Hunting or Paranormal Investigations?
I am most scared by the idea that spirits can see you, but you often
cannot see them. You don't know their motivations. What they see as
just communication can feel like you're being terrorized. It may be
miscommunication, but you have know way of knowing. It is my own fear
that causes me the most distress in any investigation.
8. If you could work side by side with one of the Paranormal Investigator
greats, who would it be?
Lorraine Warren. I met her as a high school student and she was very
interesting. I've often wondered what she would experience in our
house and borough.
Also, a new up and coming "great", Elizabeth Herrington.
She is a medium who has been referred by James Van Praagh and she
is phenomenal. I actually did have the opportunity to work with her
at several of our town locations and she has become a good friend.
I cherish every moment I have to spend with her. Her psychic gifts
are so great one cannot put them into words.
9. Read any good Paranormal Books lately?
I just finished Hans Holzer's "GHOSTS," and a book on ghosts
of the sea.
10. What Question do people ask you most when you tell them your
a paranormal investigator, writer?
How can a Christian minister embrace or believe in the idea of ghosts?
Isn't it contrary to Christian belief? My response is usually that
I didn't ask or seek out my experiences, I have reported them. Also,
the Bible speaks of a Holy Spirit and the Gospel of Matthew records
that the dead came out of their tombs and visited with their loved
ones after the resurrection. If there are so many ghosts in the Bible,
how can I not believe in the phenomena?
11. In your opinion, Where is the most Haunted city in America?
I'd like to say Riegelsville (LOL), but in reality it is probably
New Orleans, LA.
12. Do you feel more people should get involved with Ghost hunting
or Paranormal Investigation?
Only if they are truly level-headed and enter into the study with
a bit of skepticism. It is too easy to see what you want to see in
this field.
13. What does the future hold for you?
I'm sure I will continue to collect ghost stories and maintain my
websites. Whether I write anymore books--well, that's uncertain. I
feel like I've recorded as many ghost stories as I would like to for
now. I hope to move into more of the investigative end of things.
14. Paranormal Conventions do you see them growing?
I'm not really sure I can speak to this. Rick Fisher with the Pennsylvania
Paranormal Association really seems to have a good thing going there;
and he's pretty level-headed too. If I had to choose one to attend...it
would be his.
15. What is your most favored tool of the trade?
I prefer the digital camera to anything else, but an EMF detector
or digital recorder has been fun at times too.
16. Tell us about your best moment in investigating or giving a tour?
I was giving a ghost tour to a group of college students from a nearby
campus. It was around midnight on a rainy, cold October night. We
had entered one of the most haunted sites in Riegelsville and I was
telling them stories of the ghost that resides there. In the midst
of my storytelling, someone walked across the room above us on the
second floor. The noise stopped me in midsentence and someone asked,
"That was part of the tour, right?" I said, "No."
They couldn't wait to get out of the house.
17. What is the hardest part about running a paranormal tour company?
Well I would have to say securing all the permissions and liablity
releases to use people's stories in our tours.

18. How do you document your investigations?
I usually journal what I find and save the photos, emfs, and other
evidence.
19. Have you ever taken a ghost Tour not your own? And, What about
it did you not like?
My wife and I went on a ghost tour in Gettysburg. It was a fascinating
experience, but extremely short--like about 45 minutes. Our tours
in town are easily 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours in length....we give a good
scare.
20. What in the field of ghost hunting and ParanormalInvestigating
needs the most attention.
The issue of privacy and respect for individuals who allow you to
investigate but do not want the findings revealed publicly.
