20 Questions Rebbeca Shott
1. Where do you see ghost hunting and Paranormal groups, web sites
or Ghost information, tours Books like your own in 10 years?
In 10 years I believe we will see even more paranormal groups, websites,
ghost information, tours and books. As time passes, our technology
advances and allows us to capture more respectable proof that ghosts
do exist. I would like to see the technology, mainly in cameras and
camcorders, allow us to capture only paranormal energy and “siphon”
out dust, bugs, breath, smoke and other non-paranormal related anomalies.
I believe that people like me who are blessed with clairabilities
to see and communicate with ghosts will be more accepted, trusted
and open up a new aspect to the paranormal world, working hand-in-hand
with science.
2. What would you personally consider to be the definitive proof that
ghosts are real?
For me, the proof is that I can personally see them and communicate
with them, and that is all the proof I need. For the public, I feel
science will have to play a bigger role working together with clairvoyants
such as myself to be able to prove that what I see, describe, and
experience is indeed paranormal. I work with science and technology
now, hand-in-hand with my clairabilities. As I “see” from
my aspect, those on the outside can “see” as well through
the technology where they can view the energies, or activity as I
explain it to them.
3. What is the most real evidence you personally have uncovered so
far?
I have 3 examples. I have files upon files of reports containing personal
evidence, including EVPs, photographs and video. One of the best personal
experiences I’ve had showing evidence involves two different
situations at the West Virginia State Penitentiary. The first, my
sister (co-investigator) and I were the only two people sitting in
a room in the WVSP. All lights were turned off as I recorded with
my digital infrared vision camcorder and my sister used our dowsing
rods to answer questions as we communicated with the spirit of a man
(guard) we discovered. At the end of the ‘conversation’
I asked to show other proof to us that someone was there. Through
the video, you can see the rods both move and face the main entrance
of the room, and as I filmed the doorway the large, metal door shut
and locked “by itself”. I immediately snapped a digital
photo and captured a decent paranormal orb directly in front of the
door.
The other situation took place in the Sugar Shack as my sister dowsed
and I ran the tape recorder and camcorder. Speaking to another ghost
of an inmate named Michael that we discovered, I asked him if he would
manifest so I could capture him in a photo. Filming the rods, I said
“can I take a picture of you”, and the rods did not move
to answer, but on both the camcorder and the cassette tape, right
after I ask the question a deep, husky man’s voice can be heard
saying “take one now”. This was not heard at the time
of the filming but during review of the night a day later. I did not
take a photo as the rods did not indicate a “yes” reply.
Last, I have been able to “read” for people over email
and the phone by remote viewing and opening myself up to the “other
side”, and have been able to describe these perfect strangers’
friends and family that have died, some before I was born. I am able
to give people messages that only they would understand and realize
the meaning of, without asking them questions before or during our
interaction. To most people, especially those that have contacted
me for help in one way or another, that proves that “life goes
on” after the human body shell expires.
4. Are you skeptical of the claims other make of their findings?
I am just as skeptical of my own findings as I am of other people’s.
To be a good researcher, you have to do just that; research! My intuitive
is very strong, and I am able to remote view and “read”
photographs well, so upon looking at a photo or video I am able to
“tell” if the anomaly is paranormal or otherwise. One
must take the time to experiment, recreate or research anomalies captured
on film in video to dismiss all obvious arguments before proclaiming
an anomaly caught on film or in video is a true paranormal anomaly.
5. If you could investigate your "Dream Haunted Hot Spot"
where would it be?
In the USA, I would love to spend a few nights in what used to be
the Danvers State Hospital, or the Traverse City State Asylum. I do
a lot of historical research on locations like hospitals, asylums
and prisons as they are the facilities that intrigue me the most historically
and paranormally. I would also like to privately investigate the Queen
Mary. In Europe, I’ve already investigated the Tower of London,
but any castle commercial or not would suffice! I am also intrigued
by the skeleton-lined catacombs under the streets of cities like Prague
and Paris.

Gettysburg Becky Shott: This was taken in the Wheat Field at Gettysburg.
Notice the orb.
6. What was your first Paranormal encounter?
My first paranormal encounter occurred when I was only 4 years of
age, and at the time did not realize that the people I saw and spoke
to, including my Native American Indian spirit guide, were in fact
ghosts! Jumping ahead to my college years, I finally started to accept
my abilities, research them, contact people around the world to help
me understand and hone my abilities, and then I began investigating
public and private locations.
7. What scares you about Ghost Hunting or Paranormal Investigations?
Nothing scares me personally about ghosts or investigating haunted
locations. What scares me about ghost hunting in general are the people
who exploit true, professional and knowledgeable investigators and
researchers such as myself. The exploitation and commercialization
of the industry and the existence of ghosts has caused more people
to question those who obtain special abilities rather than be open-minded
and learn from them!
8. If you could work side by side with one of the Paranormal Investigator
greats, who would it be?
I would love to meet and investigate a couple of locations with James
Van Praagh.
9. Read any good Paranormal Books lately other then your own?
For entertainment purposes, I enjoy local author Chris Woodyard who
wrote the “Haunted Ohio” series amongst many other books.
My favorite general paranormal book is entitled “Real Ghosts,
Restless Spirits and Haunted Places” by author Brad Steiger.
10. What Question do people ask you most when you tell them your a
paranormal investigator, writer?
When people find out I can see and communicate with ghosts, the first
question I am asked is if anyone is around them followed closely by
“do they have any messages for me?” Another question that
is continuous is how I can see and communicate with the dead. I am
asked quite often what my book is about, and I keep the answers general
as my unique twist will create an aspect that differs magnificently
from all of the other ghost and haunted location writers out there.
11. In your opinion, Where is the most Haunted city in America?
I have never been to a city in America that is more haunted than the
next. What most people don’t realize is that every city, every
field, every house is haunted or at least visited by ghosts. You do
not have to travel to commercially advertised haunted locations. Most
places such as prisons, hospitals and battlegrounds are considered
more haunted because of the amount of deaths that took place.
If I have to choose, I would consider the most haunted city in America
to be Gettysburg not only because of the number of deaths, but the
pain, suffering and high emotion that took place with death. In general
the area is one location that has been so energetically scarred that
it is emotionally draining with paranormal energy. Where there is
high paranormal energy, there is usually paranormal activity as well
portraying it as “more haunted”.
Ste. Claire: Taken on the Bob-Lo Island steamer, the Ste. Claire
during an investigation.
12. Do you feel more people should get involved with Ghost hunting
or Paranormal Investigation?
People should get involved with ghost hunting only if they are serious,
act in a mature, safe manner and are knowledgeable about ghosts. I
do feel that people should be made more aware of ghosts, the possibility
that they do exist, and what proof we can capture at this time to
show that ghosts do exist. We can only capture as much proof as our
technology allows us to, and in time, that will be great!
13. What does the future hold for you?
The future holds some published books written by me, more international
and national investigations, success in helping people understand
and be soothed by ghosts instead of being afraid of them. I will be
getting married to co-investigator and my legal counsel, Attorney
Hans Muller in October. The future also holds the unknown and I leave
it up to fate to guide me in the right direction.
14. Paranormal Conventions do you see them growing? And which ones
are the Must go to ones?
As the public’s interest and curiosity of ghosts grow, I see
paranormal conventions growing as well. A couple highly recommended
conventions I would suggest are as follows: Grand Canyon Paranormal
Convention and the Ghost World Conference in Gettysburg.
15. What is your most favored tool of the trade?
My clairabilities are my favorite tool, and I like to prove them by
using dowsing rods, cameras and video. I also show people how to properly
(the key!) use the dowsing rods and they can feel the electricity
for themselves and ask questions that only they would know the answers
to as they’re surprised by the response of the rods.

Rebecca Shot at Johnson Island: A military prison of confederate
soldiers, now cemetery, on Johnson's Island in Ohio.
16. Tell us about your best moment in investigating or conference
attending for you?
The best moment for me during investigations happens continuously.
My abilities provide me with the opportunity to help people understand
ghosts and hauntings, as well as give comfort to them in regards to
a loved one who has passed. The most important honor I’ve gained
in this industry is consoling those who only think they’ve lost
loved ones “for good”.
17. What is the hardest part about being a paranormal writer?
At the time, it has been difficult finding the time to continue writing
ideas for my books. It is important that I do not repeat what all
of the other writers have already stated, and to create a unique twist
in my non-fiction books that will capture the public’s attention,
be understood and be distinctive from everyone else.

Gettysburg ghosts, Becky Shott at Devil's Den: Taken on top fo Devil's
Den in Gettysburg, another orb of which my dowsing rods are pointing
to, but it's difficult to see them in the picture.
18. How do you document your investigations?
My documentation stems from descriptive notes that are taken by myself
and the co-investigators that are participating in the investigation.
We film everything. The camcorder is not turned off except for a change
of tapes, batteries or restroom breaks. Otherwise, it runs nonstop
and thousands of photos are taken per investigation. Nothing is missed,
all energies are captured the results are success.
19. Have you ever taken a ghost Tour? And, What about it did you not
like?
I have attended many ghost tours in prisons, towns and local buildings.
What I do not like about most ghost tours in general is that they
are solely based on myth and tall tales rather than taking the time
to investigate and enlighten the public about the true ghosts that
may haunt the location. The other thing I do not like is how most
guides tend to completely exaggerate the ghosts, hauntings and experiences
to make them more exciting to sound more “Hollywood”,
rather than being respectful of the dead and their living family members
and friends.
20. What in the field of ghost hunting and Paranormal Investigating
needs the most attention.
Training. I believe that people should do serious research, training,
practice and experiments before heading out into the world to try
and hunt actual ghosts. It is a fascination and interest of many people,
which is great, but those who intend on investigating ghosts should
not attempt to do so without proper experience, common sense and knowledge.
