CHINA'S CHUPACABRA: AND OF COURSE EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT REAL CHUPACABRAS TODAY!
BY LISA LEE HARP WAUGH
What do we know really about the creature of myth and urban legends? We still don't know if it is real or if this strange hairless creature running wild in Texas is just a bad case of 21st century high strangeness or a plauge of mange in coyotees. "MARCH 2010". A real live Chinese Chupacabra was reported to be finally 100% real and captured alive!
A mystery beast that resembles a chupacabra ("goat-sucker"), a legendary, fearsome and possibly mythical beast said to inhabit parts of the Americas and Puerto Rico, is seen shortly after its capture in a village in Suining, Sichuan Province on March 24.
In this case, the gray colored animal wasn't attacking goats, but chickens and it was the fowls' cries that alerted village Ke Suying to find the mystery predator tearing into his birds. He tried to drive it away with a stick but failed, though later with the help of neighbors caught it in a steel net.
It resembles a large rat or a mutant mix of kangaroo and dog, with large claws. It is about 60 centimeters long, with a 30-centimeter tail. Villagers describe it as "quite fierce" and said it ravenously consumes both meat and vegetables fed to it.
Most of its brown fur has fallen out, with only a little left on its back and a front foot.
The creature has been given to the Sichuan Province forestry department for further examination.
Countless searches on line for the "Real El Chupacabra" will produce many reported as real photos, videos and serious eye wittnes accounts of what many actually believe to be dead or live real chupacabras running wild and free around the world. But many of you who just seen the evidence presented will wonder is it is all just a hoax?
Mystery beast caught in Sichuan
Tuesday, 30th March 2010
"In all my 90 years, I've never seen such a creature. I have no idea what it is," Liu Chang said, shaking his head, as he peered unflichingly into a cage housing the small animal. "Badgers, bobcats, I've seen them all, but I've never seen this."
On March 24, villagers in Suining's Jinyuan Town, Daying County flocked to Ke Suying's residence to see what the fuss was about: this never-before-seen creature was the talk of the town.
At around 3 a.m. on March 23, Ke Suying was awakened by the calling of a rooster. She listened carefully: The sound was coming from her own chicken coop, leading her to believe a thief had entered her property. She immediately woke up her daughter-in-law, and, flashlight in hand, they went down to the coop.
What they saw made both mother and daughter-in-law jump. Inside the coop was a dog-like creature, gray from head to toe, tearing at the chickens. The two women grabbed a stick intending to scare it away, but their efforts were in vain. They had no choice but to call the neighbors for help. Working together they were finally able to trap the creature in a cage.
The animal seems to be omnivorous and measures around 60 centimeters in length--bottom-heavy--and its tail adds another 30 centimeters. There is a wound on its stomach. Almost all of its fur is gone apart from a few sparse, brown-colored hairs on its back. Its head looks mostly like that of a dog, but its nostrils are that of a cow, and it has a few short whiskers hanging from its cheeks. It has round ears and folds on the skin on its neck. Its hindlegs are far longer and heavier than its forelegs, and each of its four wide feet has five toes, almost like that of a lion or tiger.
According to a personnel of the Daying County Forestry Department, this animal might possibly be a common badger, but given that it appears to be quite different from most badgers seen in the area, more research is needed to determine whether or not it is indeed a badger.
In related news, a Ms. Chen on Jiangdong Lu in Daying County has also been feeding an unidentified animal recently. When her family members attempted to identify it by searching online, they decided that it was a Beech Marten--a species found only in Shanxi, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Yunnan, and classified as a "level 2" endangered species [which seems to contradict Wikipedia's claims, but that's what the article said]. On the 23rd, when she heard the new of Ke Suying's catch, Chen realized that the two animals looked quite similar, although there were enough differences that Chen was certain they were not one and the same.
The County Forestry Department is currently doing further investigation into both animals.
The Chupacabra or Chupacabras (pronunciation: /tʃupa'kabɾa/, from the Spanish words chupar, meaning "to suck", and cabra, meaning "goat"; literally "goat sucker"), also called El Chupacabras in Spanish, is a legendary cryptid rumored to inhabit parts of the Americas. It is associated more recently with sightings of an allegedly unknown animal in Puerto Rico (where these sightings were first reported), Mexico, and the United States, especially in the latter's Latin American communities. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats. Physical descriptions of the creature vary. From alien like with large red eyes, to that of dog or coyote like creatures. Recent discoveries s in Texas points them being hybrid creatures part canine part worlf or wild dog species.
Some will tell you they are just mangy cyotes. Others think they are a strange cross between somthing wild and something once domestic. Though the Texas Chipacabra legend just might realted to the old Galveston Campeche Hounds of Hell.
CBS—January 19, 2010 — The legend of the "chupacabra" is no longer a legend according to some Texas residents claiming to have seen the strange looking animal. KTVT's Carol Cavazos has the story.
A pack of supernatural black dogs is said to roam the hurricane swept Island of Galveston, Texas since the Great Storm of 1900 or possibly earlier. Legend has it that twelve black puppies were adopted by a downtown business owner when their mongrel (Coyote or prairie wolf, small, swift wolf, Canis latrans, native to W North America), mother was killed. For over a century, inhabitants of West Galveston Island have told tales of these large black hellhounds with malevolent flaming eyes (or in some variants of the legend a single eye) that are red or alternatively yellow. They vary in size and stature from that of simply a large dog to being the size of a small horse.
But the Black Pack also are known to be benevolent at times and bring warnings of disasters. Many say they saw them in the days before the great storm of 1900. These dog like chupacabra like creatures are said to be so evil that that they only listen to the commands of the Devil himself. Some stories state that death comes quick if you see a Black Dog in Texas. And death will fall days, months, or years after viewing the demonic beasts. Others say that death may not follow at all, but something "bad" will happen to someone close to those who set eyes on the twelve ghost hounds.
The Black Dog of nearby Clear Lake, TX does not take the guise of a large, fearsome hound. Instead, it appears as a small, sad black dog. The Black Dog of San Leon leaves droppings with human fingers poking out of it . It also appears to enjoy human company, sometimes and has been known to protect lost children rom great danger. Seeing the small Black Dog of San Leon once is supposedly a sign of good luck to come, twice brings a life of long suffering bad luck And you will not have heirs. And in your cursed life you see him a third time it means instant death.
The Devil Dogs are said to possess great evil magical supernatural powers that defy explanation. If your on Galveston Island be aware of the shadows day and night. For you might be followed by the dogs of Campeche where ever you go.
The dogs are more then able to become just shadows and are said to follow anyone that might have strange or covert intentions. Many locals will tell you they will closely follow any stranger on the Island until they leave. low growls are often heard when one is near and the smell of wet dog is experienced.
The black dogs are known to breath heavily on the necks of those that have no good on their minds. One recent tale tells of a tourist that said she was chased back to her hotel by a large black beast. but she tells that she thinks the Campeche Ghost Dog was just trying to get her out of harms way. These Supernatural dogs are said to try to protect the innocent and the intended victims of unscrupulous people also.
Lafitte respected children and woman and the feeble minded. It is said that he commanded his dogs not to harm those that could not protect themselves.
The name of Campeche comes from the Mayan word "Ah Kim Pech", which means "The Place of Boa Serpent".
His Black Hellhound Devil Dogs are also said to haunt New Orleans, Barataria and anywhere Lafitte set foot in his lifetime. Some say the shadows of these dogs can be seen in the waves that crash ashore along thee gulf of Mexico.
Mujeres Island (Isla Mujeres) near Cancun. Isla Mujeres is the name of a small island, as well as the town on that island, a short distance off the coast of the northeast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Caribbean Sea.
Eyewitness sightings have been claimed as early as 1990 in Puerto Rico, and have since been reported as far north as Maine, and as far south as Chile. It is supposedly a heavy creature, the size of a small bear, with a row of spines reaching from the neck to the base of the tail. Biologists and wildlife management officials view the Chupacabra as a contemporary legend. Excerpts from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chupacabra
Many tales of the blood sucking beast have been told in Latin America and in the Southern parts of United States. Many wonder if these night creatures or living in other areas of world, and they just have not been reported yet. Some actually believe that they are large part of the many Vampire myths.
The creatures or thought to be mostly nocturnal by many accounts only attacking it's prey at night. They seem to feed on small animals including family pets and livestock. Although there are accounts of late of Horses and cattle showing signs of attacks resembling the goat suckers M. O..
From all that I have gathered on the creature it seems that it is more then just dangerous to animals it has also been reported to attack people of all ages. though descriptions are often sketchy or reported as hoax's.
El Chupacabra, a legendary blood-sucking cryptid investigations, research, books and info.
Chupacabras: And Other Mysteries by Scott Corrales
Chupacabras and Other Mysteries is a nonfiction work by a veteran bilingual researcher who answers the public outcry for more information on the "goat sucker" that has been mutilating animals and terrorizing the residents of Puerto Rico and other countries around the Gulf of Mexico, and about UFO encounters, government cover-ups, shape shifters, Bigfoot, and other mysteries. Photo section, notes, bibliography, index.
The blood sucking creature dubbed El Chupacabra has struck again!
According to tradition El Chupacabra, a vampire like creature, first appeared in Puerto Rico in the 1970s, but the Animal X - Natural Mystery Unit has found new information suggesting the first sighting may have been as early as the mid 1950s in mainland USA. Now the nasty critter has made its way through Mexico to the driest place on Earth; the Atacama Desert in Chileâ¦â¦ and this time the creatureâs victims include humans.
Is El Chupacabra or the "Goat Sucker" as it's also known, the same creature depicted as Gargoyles on centuries old churches in Europe, or is it really a mutant creature known to NASA, as many people believe.
The Animal X - Natural Mystery Unit goes in search of El Chupacabra's real identity and meets victims, witnesses and scientists who describe a creature 3 - 5 feet tall with a dark gray hairy body, glowing red eyes, sharp protruding teeth and three-fingered claw-like hands.
Daniel and Natalie travel to Chile to investigate local reports of El Chupacabra attacks in Antofagasta and Calama, where the creature is said to have left a trail of dead animal drained of every drop of blood. One woman claims she was attacked outside her home and has the wounds to prove it.
Cryptozoology A To Z: The Encyclopedia of Loch Monsters, Sasquatch, Chupacabras, and Other Authentic Mysteries of Nature by Loren Coleman
The Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman -- these are the names of the elusive beasts that have caught the eye and captured the imaginations of people around the world for centuries. Recently, tales of these "monsters" have been corroborated by an increase in sightings, and out of these legends a new science has been born: cryptozoology -- the study of hidden animals.
Cryptozoology A to Z, the first encyclopedia of its kind, contains nearly two hundred entries, including cryptids (the name given to these unusual beasts), new animal finds, and the explorers and scientists who search for them. Loren Coleman, one of the world's leading cryptozoologists, teams up with Jerome Clark, editor and author of several encyclopedias, to provide these definitive descriptions and many never-before-published drawings and photographs from eyewitnesses' detailed accounts. Full of insights into the methods of these scientists, exciting tales of discovery, and the history and evolution of this field, Cryptozoology A to Z is the most complete reference ever of the newest zoological science.
About the Author
Loren Coleman, a forty-year veteran of cryptozoological field expeditions and research, has written several books on nature's mysterious creatures, including The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Mysterious America, and Tom Slick and the Search for the Yeti, and has served as both on- and off-camera consultant to NBC-TV's Unsolved Mysteries and A&E's Ancient Mysteries.
