It
was five years ago when Frank Jones' wife
and son died unexpectedly. His son, Steven,
died of a brain tumor at an early 32. Three
months later, his wife, Sadie died from a
heart attack at the age of 69.
Sadie was a cell phone
addict. "She always had a mobile with
her," Jones told the Blackpool Gazette.
So, of course, they buried Sadie with her
cell phone.
Now Jones believes Sadie
is getting service six feet under, and she
has been sending him text messages with words
only Sadie would say. Of course, there is
no return number on the messages or missed
calls, leading Jones to believe the communications
are form his deceased wife.
Creepy? Yes. But here's
where things get creepier: The house Jones
lives in has a history of hauntings from a
being called "The Thornton Thing".
The entity drove a family from the house in
1971, and after the Jones family suffered
hauntings as well, they had the house exorcised.
It wasn't until the
untimely deaths of his wife and son did Jones
start experiencing messages from beyond. The
obvious question we can't help asking: What
kind of service does one get up there? She's
clearly getting a lot of dropped calls.
It seems more articles are
dealing today with phone calls from the dead
then ever before. People are even devising
ways to use their own cell phones to detect

Where the explanations and many calls might
just get you to sit up and take notice. The
many mysterious phone calls from the dead
is not an uncommon one. It actually happened
to me once. The call came in and it was not
for me a friend was visiting and the phone
rang I answered it and a mans voice in a low
tone said . "Hello, Hello!" "Is
Rita there?" "Can she come to the
phone this is important and my time is short."
I handed the phone to her. Rita took the phone
from me, she listened for about 30 seconds
then fainted away cold. When she came too
She was pale and afraid she said it was her
dead boyfriend and he told her he loved her
and missed her. I was astounded I thought
I recognized his voice though it was low and
static was humming in my ear. He had been
dead for about two or 3 months months at the
time. He was killed in a boating accident.
No one knew she was at my home she came by
spur of the moment. And certainly to tell
you it was a new phone number I had just gotten
the week before since I had just moved to
a new apartment. The caller ID said Caller
Unknown!
I had to sit back. She was
effected badly . I asked her was it really
him? Could it be someone who just sounded
like him? To my surprise Rita said it was
him! " Well he called me by my nick name
he gave me." "And only he used that
name." "He also said It was ok for
me to start dating and thank you for the letter
I slipped into his pocket in the coffin."
My mind was blown!
Phone Calls From The Dead
occur quite spontaneously, if it happens to
you once it might never happen to you again.
But also consider those that get daily calls
from the otherside. Sometimes the phone just
rings and a whisper is heard, others tell
of full sentences and conversations that might
last for an hour or more. I have personally
researched the matter and many stories have
come to light.
If you were
dead who would you call and why?
The deceased caller or ghost
usually had a closed relationship with the
recipient of the call. Often such calls, the
telephone usually rings normally, but some
have reported that it may have sounded sound
flat and abnormal or just plain strange to
hear.
Often many report that
the connection is bad, Static, Or low muffled
or tin like and the voice of the deceased
fades in and out. And other times it is as
clear as if they are right in the room with
you.
The voice of the dead person
is very recognizable, however, and usually
speaks familiar or pet names and words and
of interesting fact that occurred before during
or after they died.
These Dead incoming phone
calls are often terminated very fast, either
by the caller (Who is frightened out of their
wits.) or by the line going dead because the
ghost lost his connection. If the voice is
too faint, the recipient may hang up in frustration
and fear. If the recipient knows the caller
is deceased, he or she may enter a state of
shock and hang up immediately. If the recipient
does not know that the caller is dead, he
or she may talk as long as a matter of minutes
to hours . Usually such calls occur within
twenty-for hours after the caller's death,
although, some calls have been reported as
long as several years or more from the time
of the death.
Generally the purpose of such mysterious
calls seems to be to leave a farewell message,
or a warning of an impending danger, or information
needed by the living. Actress Ida Lupino received
a phone call from her father six months after
his death; he told her the whereabouts of
some papers to settle his estate. She was
shaken by the call but what the ghostly voice
told her was the truth.
Other calls have been made in apparent observance
of holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.
The caller may just speak a phrase such as
"Hello, It's me?"
PLEASE
GHOST HUNT RESPONSIBLY!
There is also a report that
I researched from a woman in Louisiana that
says she gets calls from Janis Joplin. She
says she could be anywhere . at work or shopping
center a grocery store or just out in public.
Calls will come into he location a woman's
voice will ask to speak to her. When she answers
the phone she will hear Janis Joplin songs
or the music being played. this strange phenomena
has been witnessed by many investigators.
" Sometimes a ghost will play a song
that was their favorite or a song that has
special meaning just to the person who gets
the call.
Sorry I did
not know I was dead!
Such phone calls have gone in the opposite
direction too. The caller carries on a normal
conversation with the recipient only to later
discover the recipient was already deceased
at the time when the call occurred. When questioned
they talk is if it's just another daily conversation.
A woman in Marion, North Carolina tells of
a conversation she had with a dear close friend
recently. They talked to each other on the
phone for over 30 years each day. The morning
call was the same as usual. Tells psychic
medium Reese Smith.
"My client who I read for told me this
story" "The phone rang at 8:AM as
usual, My client spoke to her friend for an
hour as usual." " the conversation
was about the daily news and all that they
usually gossip about." She hung up the
phone and in minutes it rang again."
It was the woman's Daughter calling her to
tell her that her friend was found dead at
7:PM the night before." "She hung
up the phone stunned and in shock." A
second or two later the phone rang again.
And it was the dead friend again. "She
said I'm sorry I did not mean to scare you
or bother you " "I forgot I was
Dead." The call clicked dead and my client
has not been the same since." Says Smith.
Although there is many times no satisfactory
explanation for the strange calls from the
dead, there have been several theories put
forth. One holds that the dead do place the
calls through supernatural manipulation of
the telephone mechanisms and circuitry. Another
holds that they are hallucinations caused
in part by Psychokinesis (PK) accomplished
subconsciously by the recipient. Other theories
suggest that the calls are pure fantasy, or
tricks played on the living by low-level spirits.(1)
Most modern parapsychologists do not take
such calls seriously. In the early twentieth
century, investigators modified the telegraph
and wireless with the hopes of communicating
with the dead. Thomas Edison, whose parents
were Spiritualists, worked on but never completed
a telephone that he hoped would connect the
living with the dead. During the 1940s the
"psychic telephone" experiments
were conduct in England and America in attempts
to reach the dead. Again, interest arose in
the 1960s when Konstantin Raudive announced
that he had captured voices of the dead in
electromagnetic tape.(1)
There have been many theories
put forward to explain this sort of 'phenomena.'
They are really calls coming from the otherside.
And they are made by the deceased by manipulating
the telephone, airwaves or electrical lines
and phone lines as some sort of 'supernatural
manipulation.' Their is even a old urban legend
about a wind taking down a phone line and
wrapping it around a tombstone and that person
supposedly called all hi s friends and family
until someone noticed at the cemetery what
had happened.
Some think that this is an audible hallucinations
caused in part by Psychokinesis (PK) accomplished
subconsciously by the recipient. The
Great American Necromancer Lisa Lee Harp Waugh
has experimented with trying to get the
dead to call her via cell phones and house
phones with some surprising results. Waugh
believes since ghosts are energy and phones
work with such then it is possible for these
ethereal beings to use it at their disposal.
"Some ghosts have told me they can actually
enter a phone and travel through the wires
or air waves to make a ghost call to the living."
Said Waugh in an interview recently. "Who
are we to think so shallow that anything such
as phone calls from the dead or not possible."
Waugh also uses a
Frank's Box
to speak and contact the dead. Or she just
sits alone in a mirrored room practicing Necromancy
to call up ghosts to interview.

Electronic
Voice Phenomenon
Otherwise
known as E.V.P.
Written by: Todd M. Bates Founder of Haunted
Voices
The mystery of Electronic Voice Phenomena
has been around for many years. There are
quite a few paranormal investigators out there
that refuse to work with the phenomena due
to its complications. I personally feel that
it is very much worth the extra effort.
E.V.P. is a great communication tool for the
other side and the phenomena itself can answer
some of the questions that we have all asked
ourselves over the years. Simply put, it just
makes sense to experiment with E.V.P. during
your investigations. It is not at all difficult
to capture these voices from the other side.
It also takes very little knowledge and equipment
to do so. There are to many investigators
out there who are (or feel) intimidated by
this phenomenon. Many do not take the time
to research or educate themselves or their
group(s) on the subject. This is one reason
why I choose to volunteer my time and services
to anyone who wants to learn about this field.
I will not go into that right now because
this isn’t an article about ME but for
YOU, the investigator, to perhaps learn from
and use for your future investigations. I
will try and touch on a brief history, some
current theories about this topic, a few tips
to help you on your way and still throw my
own two cents in.
Thomas Edison was the first to look into electronic
voice phenomena in the early 1920’s.
After his mother had been sick for some time
(and was on death’s door) he decided
to try and find a way to communicate with
her after she passed. Shortly after he started
work his mother did pass on, leaving Thomas
with a more urgent need to find a way to communicate
with her. After the planning phase, he began
construction on a device with his assistant
Dr. Miller Hutchison, which was later to be
called the TEC (Thomas Edison Communicator).
Edison didn’t get to complete his work
before his own death in 1931. But since that
time it has been completed by others using
his notes and is being experimented with today.
This device is basically like a giant microphone
for the dead. It seems to be able to pick
out their voices from the air. Very little
is known about how this device actually works.
Such groups as the International Ghost Hunters
Society have been able to use it though and
claim to have good results. These may be available
to the market soon but I am sure they will
not come cheap. One could only hope that Mr.
Edison is very proud that his invention was
finally completed. Even though it is to bad
that he wasn’t able to use it to communicate
with his mother as he had intended.
Perhaps my favorite E.V.P. mentor was the
now deceased Swedish film producer, Friedrich
Juergenson. He captured the phenomena without
even knowing it while trying to record bird
songs. This was an accident that changed the
paranormal arena forever. When Juergenson
played the birds songs back he discovered
that he had recorded voices from the other
side. Phrases such as, “bird voices
in the night” and even his own mother
(who was then already deceased) contacted
him by saying, “Friedrich, you are being
watched”, “Friedel, my little
Friedel. Can you hear me?” This of course
amazed as well as relieved Juergenson. He
then began a recording frenzy to try and get
in touch with his mother and all other spirits.
He died in 1964, but not before he had contacted
and confirmed life after death. He was given
the title posthumously of, “The Father
of E.V.P.”
I am sure you are asking
yourself, “Ok, so what is E.V.P.?”
Well I really wish the answer were so simple
and easy to explain. Of course, then it wouldn’t
be called the “unknown”. Let me
first tell you that there are quite a few
theories on how the phenomenon actually occurs.
Some believe that the spirit itself simply
walks up to the microphone or recording device
and “speaks” into it. I personally
find this very hard to believe. How could
a spirit that is made of pure energy (as far
as we know) simply speak without vocal cords?
The theory that I tend to go with is that
the spirit somehow imprints its “magnetic
image” onto the recording device. Now
there are some that believe that a “residual”
effect that takes place when some of the energy
that is stored in the area of the known haunting
is released. This is very possible and I feel
that such objects like limestone can hold
this kind of energy for long periods of time.
I also think that if you are at the right
place at the right time you may just capture
some voices of the past. The Catacombs located
in Paris, France are a great example of how
this may occur. There are thousands of corpses
located beneath the Paris streets and they
are far from being at rest. This energy could
very well be stored in the actual catacombs
walls (made of limestone) themselves. Residual
energy, by the way, is spirit energy that
is constantly replaying itself over time and
not an interactive ghost. Another popular
theory is the spirit will speak to us using
telepathy or use our own voice and resources
to break the communication barrier from their
world to ours. After you have experimented
with electronic voice phenomena and gained
more knowledge and experience with it, then
perhaps you can come up with your own opinions
on the matter. The key is to not be afraid
or intimidated by them but to respect and
learn from them.
Secondly, E.V.P. can be captured in a few
different ways. There is no right or wrong
way to do it. Numerous groups and investigators
claim that their way is the best, or the only
way, to capture E.V.P. I have found that this
is completely incorrect though. If there were
an “expert” in this field then
we could all put our equipment away because
it would no longer be considered the unknown.
No one knows all of the answers and those
that claim they do need to find another line
of work, or take this one more seriously.
You can use a standard cassette or digital
recording device, but in my opinion, it is
hard to compare with the ancient and bulky
Reel-to-Reel recorder. This recorder is what
started it all and it has its good and bad
points. I don’t want to get too technical
here, so if you would like to read more about
the Reel-to-Reel recorder you can do a simple
search for it on the Internet. When I go on
investigations I choose to use both the cassette
and digital recorder, as I feel they both
back each other up. I will caution that you
should be sure to use an external microphone
with your cassette recorder though. Not to
help hear the spirit better, but to reduce
the possibility of wheel noise generated by
the recorders internal parts. I personally
do not use a microphone with my digital recorder
because I feel that the internal mechanisms
are not loud enough to disrupt the recording.
You may feel differently and choose to use
one if you wish. I have received numerous
questions asking what kind of tapes I buy
for my cassette recorder. Well the answer
is, try them all. If you plan on or know how
to use audio editing software then this really
doesn’t matter. Some feel that the metal
content in the tape helps and it is very possible
that it may, but for those of us on a strict
budget this could get quite costly. I have
heard some outstanding E.V.P. captured on
“Dollar Store” brand cassette
tapes, so that was proof enough for me. Sure
you have the background hiss with these tapes
but this can be reduced and cleaned with software
(if used).
In closing, if you use some common sense and
some general knowledge of electronic voice
phenomena then you should have no problem
capturing your own E.V.P. I do hope this helps
some of you out there and I cannot stress
enough for all of you to give it a try. You
just might be surprised at what you record.
