"People need to do their own paranormal research and not just believe what they read."
Aside from controversies over the merits of particular conspiratorial claims, the general discussion of conspiracy theory is itself a matter of some public contention. Be it paranormal in nature or some type of cover up or dis information we all know it is very real.
The term "conspiracy theory" is considered by different observers to be a neutral description for a conspiracy claim, a pejorative term used to dismiss such a claim without examination, and a term that can be positively embraced by proponents of such a claim. The term may be used by some for arguments they might not wholly believe but consider radical and exciting. The most widely accepted sense of the term is that which popular culture and academic usage share, certainly having negative implications for a narrative's probable truth value.

I as many of you do read all the paranormal news I can get my hands on. I also watch all the cable shows from Ghost Hunters to Monster Quest, and lets not forget my favorites like UFO Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. But as we all should be aware of is that what we often see and read on the internet is not the whole truth. There ARE as we know are major hoax's and even unintentional frauds and unsolved truths that need to be investigated.
Many of you out there dismiss crop circles, cattle mutilations, ghost haunted locations, Alien encounters, UFO's, EVP's and those poor people possessed by demons as all products of an over active imagination. As we know the camps of believers and those that don't stand greatly divided. But if you don't ask your self the million dollar question. "Is It Real?" And you don't embark to find out then your just not curious enough to be a paranormal investigator.
One might question the average zoologist to what actually makes cryptid's such as Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster, Mothman or El Chupacabra as a scientifically-dismissed species. But unlike the Mountain Gorilla or Giant Squid are now common enough concepts, they'll tell you, "The difference is the gorilla and the squid are real, and Bigfoot isn't."
IF SEEING IS BELIEVEING THEN WHAT DO YOU SEE? IS IT THE TRUTH?
Sensational Paranormal headlines like: "My Dead Husband Is Still Cheating On Me!" "UFO Lands And Aliens Got Out And Mowed My Lawn" or " Bigfoot Danced At My Daughters Wedding" ... Well these types of articles or really stretching it. But as we all know someone who reads it will actually believe it. And if while researching such claims what about the individual who states a ghost lives in their bum. You really have to wonder should we dismiss all this as a real sick or wild imaginative farce? And is someone snickering at us from behind the web page it's posted on.
I have known individuals who have several email accounts screenames and appear on an in numerous chats and boards pretending to be someone else. They on one hand state the haunted or paranormal facts and on the other destroy their own creditability. I guess those of us who see this realize it is nothing but a political paranormal move to get recognition through controversy. As a real paranormal investigator one must be always critical of all that is set before us. Just because it says so in wikipedia does not mean it is true. Even today's Paranormal authors who write about ghosts, cryptid's, and all that is strange or conspiratory are only putting out their findings. But we should as intelligent individuals realize that no matter what we see in print . It is solely there for us to analize and research on our own. How many times have you watched a video of a ghost or cryptid and said to your self wow that's real. You send it to your friends and email it to paranormal inclined acquaintances, and you really get startled by all the different reviews. For what you thought was real and very interesting, your best friend disagrees to the point that it makes you feel .... er ... stupid. Have you ever gone to forums or chat boards and seen how many news articles are ripped to shreds by those who debunk them. Or do you just live in your own world of, "I read it on a web site so it must be true".
Everything you see and read today is just someone else's personal opinion. And as we know that is why we should investigate the query. You can often do this by contacting a paranormal investigator and asking them what the article or new story is all about. In getting to know the individual you can learn from them how sincere they really are. The same goes for meeting a paranormal ghost infected person and questioning them of their experiences. If you don't do a little research and dig for the truth you will never find it.
I often wondered why many perpetrate a paranormal hoax's on line? Then I saw how watching the misinformation proliferate online gets the proverbial paranormal snowball rolling. It might be a lesson in life you need to learn yourself to full grasp what is going on. Like the old saying don't believe everything you read. We all know people lie, fabricate and often get misquoted. We also know what ever happens everyone has a different take on it. One might state they are only doing it for attention. And that might be the actual reason so much happens in the world today. Everyone is just looking for their own 15 minutes of fame or to make a buck.
Do you really believe what you hear and see?
A conspiracy theory is a term that has come to refer to any theory which explains a historical or current event as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful Machiavellian conspirators, such as a "secret team" or "shadow government". But we forget to analyze the simple well put writings of a paranormal investigator investigating a real haunted location on a cable network.
Real Paranormal Conspiracy theories are often viewed with skepticism and sometimes ridicule because they are seldom supported by any conclusive evidence and contrast with institutional analysis, which focuses on people's collective behavior in publicly known institutions, as recorded in scholarly material and mainstream media reports, to explain historical or current events, rather than secretive coalitions of individuals. The term is therefore often used diffusively in an attempt to characterize a belief as outlandishly false and held by a person judged to be a crank or a group confined to the lunatic fringe. Such characterization is often the subject of dispute due to its possible unfairness and inaccuracy. Take the great Bigfoot hoax of 2008 as an example. Does it not make you think twice about all you read on bigfoot and those that track him?
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, conspiracy theories have become commonplace in mass media, which has contributed to conspiracies emerging as a cultural phenomenon. Belief in conspiracy theories has therefore become a topic of interest for sociologists, psychologists and experts in folklore. It won't be long many ponder that a major figure in the ghost hunting or UFO community today is exposed as a fraud or major hoaxer.
The X-Files was a popular television show during the 1990s and early 2000s, which followed the investigations of three FBI agents, Fox Mulder, Dana Scully and John Doggett, who were sometimes helped by a group of conspiracy theorists known as The Lone Gunmen. Many of the episodes dealt with a plot for alien invasion overseen by elements of the U.S. government, led by an individual known only as the Cigarette Smoking Man and an even more mysterious international "Syndicate". The famous tag line of the series, "The Truth Is Out There", can be interpreted as reference to the meaning-seeking nature of the genre discussed above.
The Roswell UFO Incident involves the recovery of materials near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, on July 8, 1947, which since the late 1970s has become the subject of intense speculation, rumor, and questioning. There are widely divergent views on what actually happened and passionate debate about what evidence can be believed. The United States military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named "Mogul." Many UFO proponents maintain that a crashed alien craft and bodies were recovered, and that the military engaged in a cover-up. The incident has turned into a widely known pop culture phenomenon, making the name Roswell synonymous with UFOs. It ranks as one of the most publicized and controversial UFO incidents ever.
Many individuals will see what evidence that is presented to them and always look for an alternative answer. Scfy's best show Ghost Hunters is often the object of scrutiny from all camps. What ever evidence they present someone is always looking for a way to debunk them. Real or not the decision is only yours to assume.
Controversy is a state of prolonged public dispute or debate usually concerning a matter of opinion. The term originates circa 1384 from Latin controversial, as a composite of controversies - "turned in an opposite direction," from contra - "against" - and vertere - to turn, or versus (see verse), hence, "to turn against."
Benford's law of controversy, as expressed by science-fiction author Gregory Benford in 1980, states: "Passion is inversely proportional to the amount of real (true) information available." In other words, the more untruths the more controversy there is, and the more truths the less controversy there is.
A controversy is always the result of either ignorance (lack of sufficient true information), misinformation, misunderstandings, half-truths, distortions, bias or prejudice, deliberate lies or fabrications (disinformation), opposed underlying motives or purposes (sometimes masked or hidden), or a combination of these factors
Paranormal discovery today is considered controversial by many individuals in and out of the field around the world.
Neither “reliable sources” nor “multiple reports” are dependable ways to resolve any controversy, because for centuries, opponents in military and industrial espionage, politics, religion, public relations, and national economies, have used multiple reports and reliable sources of information to manipulate people in war, business, elections, beliefs, public opinion and financial markets – using disinformation or Black propaganda planted secretly or underhandedly, or passed on unwittingly, through double-agents, con men, radio broadcasts, news media, authoritative writings and other means, including gossip and the internet in modern times.
Courts of law have long recognized this fact. (See further discussion regarding law below.) Thus, decent and fair courts don’t allow 2nd-hand hearsay evidence (“I heard John say that he heard Mary say so and so”), and require opinion to be clearly labeled as opinion not fact, and instruct juries to base their findings more on hard evidence (like DNA tests and crime scene re-enactments) than on testimony alone, since multiple witnesses can give the same flawed ideas or perceptions, or the same intentional lies and distortions.
Controversy in matters of ghost Hunting or cryptid investigating has traditionally been particularly heated. Controversial paranormal phenomena issues are held as often someone's personal folly. Because of this, some controversies are considered taboo to discuss in public among other people, unless people are either mature enough or can find a common ground to share and discuss its like adults, or with out ridicule.
Disinformation is false or inaccurate information that is spread deliberately. It is synonymous with and sometimes called Black propaganda. It may include the distribution of forged documents, manuscripts, and photographs, or spreading malicious rumors and fabricated intelligence. Disinformation should not be confused with misinformation, information that is unintentionally false. I truly think and believe today's paranormal propaganda is often false information and materials that purports to be from a source on one side of a conflict, but is actually from the opposing side. It is typically used to vilify, embarrass or misrepresent the works of Paranormal investigative research. This often constitutes in which the real source is declared and usually more accurate information is given, if also slanted or distorted.
