My two daughters have formed a ghost hunting club that includes me as their historical guide. Being that I am a history buff, I have frequently gone on the their hunts to explain any historical references and information that better helps them understand what happened in the past.

On Saturday June 18th 2005, we were able to experience
several ghost encounters that we will most likely never forget.

As soon as we got out of our truck and started our walk from the visitor's parking lot, there was a single cannon shot that rang out from the nature trail forest area. It startled us but we kept walking over to the Gunthright House. As we were talking and video taping the old infirmary, we could all feel a cold spot on our left shoulders that seemed to be enveloping the entire side of the house closest to the nature trail.

My daughters had read about a little girl who haunts the veteran's cemetery across the street, so we walked over to further video tape. While we were taping and talking about the little girl (who did not appear) a very loud noise started up in which we could distinctly hear men screaming and yelling as if there was a huge battle going on. As we listened in shock, the noise seemed to be coming from the nature trail area. The noise was caught on video tape and in the back ground, one can hear horses, rifle shots and men screaming out in agony. It was not a scary experience but more of a thrilling encounter that has us seeking another encounter.

I am happy that my kids had this experience because they have become disenchanted with ghost hunting due to the many false alarms they have had.
