TROY TAYLOR - THE MAN, THE LEGEND, AND HIS MANY, MANY HAUNTED BOOKS

BY TAMILIA EASTER JACKSON

To me nothing is more pleasurable and paranormal related then to sit down on a rainy afternoon and read a book by the amazing Troy Taylor. I think I own everything the man has ever written, And usually am on pins and needles waiting for his next book to hit the shelves.

Known to many as the Ghost Hunting Paranormal researcher and writer. The man is a dynamo when it comes to haunted and paranormal research. He is more then just well respected as a writer for he is also a man of facing challenges and the world of the non believer almost single handedly.

Taylor writes in a matter of fact style and an easy reading way. It almost tells you out right that old phrase of "believe it or not"! And I think that's the exact stand point one should approach the paranormal from. Yes of course Troy Taylor is one prolific writer, and his many great books certainly just keep getting better and better.

Troy Taylor is the author of 57 books (and counting) about history, haunting's and the unexplained in America for a number of publishers, including Whitechapel Press, History Press, Stackpole Books, Barnes & Noble Press, and others.

Taylor is the founder and president of the “American Ghost Society”, a national network of ghost hunters that collects accounts of ghost sightings and haunted houses and uses investigative techniques to track down real evidence of the supernatural and paranormal activity.

Born on September 24, 1966 in Decatur, Illinois. Taylor grew up more then just fascinated with “things that go bump in the night”,In his younger years Taylor was well-known for his deep interest in the paranormal and ghosts, He often took friends on his personal ghost tours of haunted places all over downstate Illinois.

In 1989, Taylor turned his interest in the supernatural into a career when he began working on his first book, Haunted Decatur The well received book spawned the Haunted Decatur Tour in 1994, which took guests to locations that he had written about in his book.

In 1996, Taylor organized a group of ghost enthusiasts into an investigation team and the American Ghost Society was launched, gained over 600 members in the years that followed. The organization continues today as one of America’s largest and most honored research groups.

In 1997, Taylor launched the Haunted America Conference, regarded as "America's Original Ghost Conference" in Decatur, Illinois. After a number of years in Alton, Illinois, the conference has returned to its original site at the Lincoln Theater in Decatur. The Haunted America Conference remains the most imitated and prestigious conference to attend in the country and is now preparing for its 13th annual event in 2009.

The American Ghost Society's 13th Annual Haunted America Conference will be held over the weekend of June 19-20 in Decatur, Illinois --- the most haunted small city in the Midwest! This wonderful annual event is the "original ghost conference" and while it's often imitated, it's never equaled! This year's conference will again feature nationally known authors and speakers on ghosts and the supernatural and will be returning to our favorite location --- the haunted Lincoln Theater in Decatur! It's going to be an amazing year with new and favorite speakers, haunted workshops, great after-hours events and much more!

Return with us to the haunted Lincoln Theater and experience this spooky, and very haunted, place for yourself and spend the weekend taking part in lectures and workshops on ghosts and ghost hunting; presentations on paranormal phenomena and investigating the unknown; discussions and questions & answer periods; haunted locations; haunted workshops; real-life séances; ghost tours; late-night investigations; and much more!

This year is our 13th Annual Conference and, as with each year, will give attendees the chance to gather information about ghosts, hauntings and the unexplained that you won't hear anywhere else; meet other ghost enthusiasts from around the country; network and compare notes with other investigators; and to visit Decatur, Illinois, " the most haunted small city in the Midwest". You don't want to miss this --- there's a reason that it's the longest running ghost conference in the country!
