Some theories suggest that spirits give
off infrared energy which is detected by
infrared detectors. If this is the case,
then it is possible for paranormal activity
to set off the alarm of the infrared detector.
This is one other step toward possibly proving
that spirits are infrared. In any case,
these devices are good for sensing movement
when there should be none. One sensor can
easily monitor an entire hallway or room.
it is an ideal tool for indoor investigations.
Infrared motion detectors sample the infrared
light in front of the detector and convert
it into an electrical signal which is then
monitored by the internal circuits for changes
in the signal. When something moves in front
of the infrared detector, the infrared signature
will change. This new signature is read
by the detector, if there is enough of a
change in the converted eletrical signal,
the detector will set of an alarm or chime
to notify the user that something has changed
the infrared light in front of the device,
ie, it detected motion.

The Portable Motion Sensor uses advanced
technology to detect intruders and
activity in a controlled area: 110°
horizontal view, 20° vertical
view up to 30 feet from unit. Completely
self-contained and portable, the Portable
Motion Sensor operates on 2 standard
AA batteries. Can be mounted on a
wall, floor or ceiling, or simply
placed on a tabletop. Unit is armed
and disarmed from up to 30 feet away
with the handheld remote (included).
Great for security or paranormal work
when you want to monitor an area for
activity.

Beam Break Alarm
This does the same as the IR Motion Sensor
only it uses an invisible laser
beam fired between the base unit and a reciever
unit, the distance between the two can be
upto 70 feet !!
In Entrapment, Catherine Zeta Jones blows
cosmetic powder onto the lasers so that
they becomes visible. Many have tried out
the same technique, which results in an
interesting find: the powder does ler you
see the beams from the laser pointers, but
if you blow too much powder, it is enough
to actually break the beams and set off
the security system.
Infrared beams are visible to the human
eye, so the cosmetic powder by itself is
not enough to bypass the infrared security
system. Laser beams are very reliable, but
they must be carefully aligned. The laser
beam unit used here is fairly easy to align,
but it requires that you stoop down and
peer with one eye into a tiny little mirror
which to be 'aligned', must show a reflection
of the other unit.

This product is popular with our
paranormal investigation customers
for use during investigations.
Also great for security applications
or as chime to alert you of visitors.
20m (75ft) range
3 mode sounder - chime, continuous
chime and siren
This device is extremely simple to
set up: switch on the transmitter,
line up the receiver (up to 20m away)
and switch them on. The receiver will
sound whenever the invisible infra-red
beam is broken. It can also be set
to chime once or chime continuously
(with volume adjustable to low, medium
or high) or set to a continuous high
level siren.
Each pair features a coded infrared
transmission and a switch for high
or low power output. Both of the units
require three AA batteries or a 6V
plug-in mains adaptor each (not included).

Laser Beam Motion Sensors
These units create an invisible beam across
your driveway (or anywhere). If they are
mounted so that the 'beam' is horizontal,
and about 'hip high', they will not be triggered
but by a person or a vehicle 'breaking'
the beam.
These units often use a 'dual-beam' where
both beams must be broken at the same time
before the unit announces an alarm. Some
offer settings for sensitivity where at
its most critical, a bird flying could trigger
it, and at its least sensitive, only a 'slow
walker' or a vehicle would set it off.

Simple entrance monitoring device
which creates an invisible beam across
a doorway or area. Easy beam alignment
with confirmation LED. Two beam distance
settings. Low battery warning signal.
Choice of alarm tones or single chime
when the beam is broken. Both units
operate from 1 x PP3 battery (supplied).
Ideal for shop doorways, care of the
elderly, children (when toddlers get
on the move). Dimensions: 95mm x 70mm
x 25mm.

This product is a two part photoelectric
beam that can be used to generate
an alarm when the infrared beam is
broken. The beam range is up to 15M
making it suitable for driveways,
loading bay doors, garages and lockups
etc. The receiver is equipped with
a 1A relay having N/O and N/C contacts.
Both the transmitter and receiver
require 12V DC. Power consumption
is 10mA standby, 37mA when the alarm
is activated. The enclosures are shower
proof. The beam is easily aligned
with correct alignment indicated by
LED. The receiver relay can be used
to control transmitters, alarm claxons
and door controllers.

Motion Activated Alarm & Chime w/ Decal
- Resets automatically if no further movement
is detected
Many motion devices are both an ear piercing
security alarm and a pleasant entry announcer.
It employs the latest technology to prevent
the chime from continually sounding once
it has been activated. A common problem
with other door chimes is that they will
continually sound as long as someone is
standing in the detection area. Obviously
this can be very annoying in a home or business.
This is the first device we have seen that
solves this problem. It does so by automatically
disabling the chime for about five seconds
after it sounds. Once no further movement
is detected it resets itself. This allows
someone to enter a store (for example) and
remain within the detection area for as
long as they wish and the chime will only
sound one time. Once that person has left
the detection area for five seconds, the
next person entering will again activate
the chime. In the alarm mode, an ear piercing
alarm will sound when someone enters the
protected area. The alarm will sound for
one minute and automatically reset itself
if motion is no longer detected. Includes
a wall mounting bracket. The alarm is less
than four and a half inches tall and it
can easily be removed from the bracket and
taken with you when traveling. May be used
to monitor children or the elderly inside
the home. Also great for a retail store,
office, or hotel room. Requires three "AA"
batteries.

HAUNTED
DANGER ZONE A SERIES OF CAUTIONARY TALES
BY JANE J. WICHERS
Over the years, interest in Electronic Voice
Phenomena, or EVP, has waxed and waned with
the capriciousness of the growing cult of
paranormal enthusiasts. This quasi-scientific
method of attempted contact with (and by)
the dead is not an old concept – throughout
their respective careers both Edison and
Marconi, the fathers of modern communications,
were developing techniques they hoped would
result in contact with departed human personalities.
Later, galvanized by the Spiritualist movement
of the early 20th century, attempts at the
recording of disembodied voices once more
became an important part of paranormal research,
at least on the amateur level. >More
