I was asked by Two Four Productions in the UK (London) to be on their new
television series "Conversations
With a Serial Killer- Richard
Trenton Chase". I
have done plenty of TV in my day but
this was just over the top! The first
site being the haunted Preston Castle
in Ione, CA on Monday, May 19th, 2008.
It was so incredible being in the
Preston Castle at night; it is a pretty
scary and daunting place in the dark!
The floors are rotted out, and there
are plenty of things that go bump
in the night there.

While H.P.I. was performing the paranormal
investigation at Preston Castle, we
got an amazing EVP! The EVP was also
heard audibly by the producer of the
show, Charlotte Wheeler (Creator of”
Dead Famous”). Charlotte has
been a part of many paranormal shows
and has NEVER had a paranormal experience
until investigating with H.P.I. We
were all standing in a dark and spooky
hallway upstairs when they all heard
"Whores, Whores!" in a low
roar. We got it on film and on audio
and it was a GREAT piece of evidence
for the show. I'd like to let you
all hear it but it's got to remain
under wraps until the show airs in
late 2008.
Richard
Trenton Chase

Richard Trenton Chase (May 23, 1950
– December 26, 1980) was an
American serial killer who killed
six people in the span of a month
in California. He was nicknamed "The
Vampire of Sacramento" because
he drank his victims' blood and cannibalized
their remains. He did this as part
of a delusion that he needed to prevent
Nazis from turning his blood into
powder via poison they had planted
beneath his soap dish.
A self-described victim of abuse
at the hands of his mother, Chase
exhibited by the age of 10 evidence
of the MacDonald triad: bedwetting,
pyromania, and zoosadism (allegations
which were later called into question).
In his adolescence, he was known as
an alcoholic and a chronic drug abuser.
He suffered from erectile dysfunction
due to "psychological problems
stemming from repressed anger".
In 1975, Chase was involuntarily committed
to a mental institution after being
taken to a hospital for blood poisoning,
which he contracted after injecting
rabbit's blood into his veins. He
often shared with the staff fantasies
about killing rabbits. He was once
found with blood smeared around his
mouth; hospital staff discovered he
had drank the blood of birds. Staff
began referring to him as "Dracula."
The Face Of A Serial
Killer

Chase killed his first victim in
a drive-by shooting. The victim, Ambrose
Griffin, was a 51-year-old engineer
and father of three. After the shooting,
one of Griffin's sons reported seeing
a neighbor walking around their East
Sacramento neighborhood with a .22
calibre rifle. The neighbor's rifle
was seized, but ballistics tests determined
that it was not the murder weapon.
On January 11, 1978, Chase asked
his neighbor for a cigarette and then
forcibly restrained her until she
gave him an entire pack.
Two weeks later, he attempted to
enter the home of another woman but,
finding that her doors were locked,
walked away; Chase later told detectives
that he took locked doors as a sign
that he was not welcome, but that
unlocked doors were an invitation
to come inside. He was later chased
off by a returning couple as he pilfered
belongings from their home and urinated
and defecated on their beds and clothing.
Chase's next victim was Teresa Wallin.
Three months pregnant, Wallin was
surprised at her home by Chase, who
shot her three times, killing her.
He then had sex with the corpse, mutilated
it, and bathed in the dead woman's
blood.
Richard Trenton Chase's Apartment

On January 23, 1978, two days after
killing Teresa Wallin, Chase purchased
two puppies from a neighbor. He killed
them and drank their blood.
On January 27, Chase committed his
final murders. Entering the home of
38-year-old Evelyn Miroth, he encountered
her friend, Danny Meredith, who he
shot with his .22 handgun. Stealing
Meredith's wallet and car keys, he
rampaged through the house, fatally
shooting Evelyn Miroth, her six-year-old
son Jason, and Miroth's 22-month-old
nephew, David. As with Teresa Wallin,
Chase engaged in necrophilia and cannibalism
with Miroth's corpse.
A six-year-old girl with whom Jason
Miroth had a playdate knocked on the
door, startling Chase, who fled the
scene in Meredith's car, taking David's
body with him. The girl alerted a
neighbor, who alerted police. Upon
entering the home, police discovered
that Chase had left perfect handprints
and perfect imprints of the soles
of his shoes in Evelyn's blood.
Chase returned to his home, where
he drank David's blood and ate several
of the baby's internal organs before
disposing of the body at a nearby
church.
Tales Of Seancé's
And Madmen
In 1979, Chase stood trial on six
counts of murder. In order to avoid
the death penalty, the defense tried
to have him found guilty of second
degree murder, which would result
in a life sentence. Their case hinged
on Chase's history of mental illness
and the lack of planning in his crimes,
evidence that they were not premeditated.
On May 8, the jury in the highly
publicized case found Chase guilty
of six counts of first degree murder
and Chase was sentenced to die in
the gas chamber. They rejected the
argument that he was not guilty by
reason of insanity. The other inmates
(including several gang members),
aware of the graphic and bizarre nature
of Chase's crimes, feared him, and
according to prison officials, they
often tried to convince Chase to commit
suicide.

The 1988 movie Rampage
was loosely based on Chase's crimes.
Chase granted a series of interviews
with Robert Ressler, during which
he spoke of his fears of Nazis and
UFOs, claiming that although he had
killed, it was not his fault; he had
been forced to kill to keep himself
alive, which he believed any person
would do. He asked Ressler to give
him access to a radar gun, with which
he could apprehend the Nazi UFOs,
so that the Nazis could stand trial
for the murders. He also handed Ressler
a large amount of macaroni and cheese
which he had been hoarding in his
pants pockets, believing that the
prison officials were in league with
the Nazis and attempting to kill him
with poisoned food.
On December 26, 1980, a guard doing
cell checks found Chase lying awkwardly
on his bed, not breathing. An autopsy
determined that he committed suicide
with an overdose of prison doctor-prescribed
antidepressants that he had been saving
up over the last few weeks.

Another strange thing happened when
we were leaving the Preston Castle…
The building was MOANING at Holly
& Charlotte! It was the strangest
noise I had ever heard! It was truly
like being in a Haunted Castle movie,
but this was REAL! We were actually
experiencing it for real!
On Tuesday May 20th we had a séance
at Vega's in Old Sacramento. Vega’s
used to be a bar called Steamboat
Navigation in the 1970’s. It
was a disco club that Richard Trenton
Chase frequented. Chase was not exactly
a ladies man so he was often shunned
when he approached the women for some
“Saturday Night Fever”.
It’s a good thing they shunned
him because they may have ended up
his dinner for the night! If you have
not heard of Richard Trenton Chase,
AKA, “The Vampire of Sacramento”,
he was an infamous serial killer that
actually ate his victims and bathed
in their blood.
He thought that his own blood needed
to be replenished because he had “soap
dish disease”. Soap dish disease
was obviously a made up disease by
Chase, who happened to like LSD more
than fruits and vegetables. He actually
thought that if he picked up a bar
of soap and it was gooey underneath,
and he touched the goo that his heart
would turn to dust. Yeah, weird. And
by the way, he’s a immoral real
bastard… I actually got to speak
to him from bryond the grave!

Psychic Bobby Marchesso, Shannon McCabe
and Julie MacDonald Go in searh of
Richard Trenton Chase's ghost... And
find Him!
We contacted Richard Trenton Chase
through a séance that I was
asked to lead. The star of the show,
Julie MacDonald, actually had to dismiss
herself from the séance for
an overcoming feeling of nausea. Julie
is a skeptic and has sat through 35
séances and has NEVER had an
experience until sitting with H.P.I.!
Bobby Marchesso, the psychic and star
of the show, really felt like it was
Richard Trenton Chase that we were
communicating with, he said that "The
Vampire of Sacramento" was right
behind me, "mocking" me
and my arms went totally numb until
he left me. It was WEIRD!!!!!!

From Publishers Weekly
Biondi and Hecox (authors of All His
Father's Sins: The Shocking Truth
About California's Most Gruesome Serial
Killer ) offer a fast-paced if facile
report of a deranged killer who claimed
six victims and drank their blood.
The authors first show Richard Chase
in a bizarre moment--naked and covered
with cow blood--and that glimpse chills
as the story proceeds: Chase harassed
neighbors, left a perverse token in
a house he burgled and seemed paranoid
in public. When he graduated to murder,
he not only shot his victims but sexually
mutilated them. Former Sacramento
homicide detective Biondi supplies
inside information on the investigation,
such as a television crew's discovery
of evidence overlooked by police.
In addition, he and Hecox produce
crime bulletins issued by police and
the surprisingly accurate psychological
profile detectives prepared of the
killer. Luck combined with old-fashioned
detective work flushed out Chase,
who initially would admit only to
killing dogs. But Chase told a fellow
prisoner that he drank victims' blood,
and after he took the stand in his
own defense, jurors decided not to
find him insane. He committed suicide
on death row in 1980. Copyright 1992

During the actual Seance to call
ip Chase's ghost, Chris Grissom -
HPI Lead Investigator actually fell
out of consciousness for a moment,
which NEVER happens to a strong guy
like Chris!

As far as the paranormal goes, Grissom
has had experences as a child. Like
hearing his name being called out
when nobody else was home. Grissom
has been woken up several times at
night, having his hair played with,
only to turn around and find nobody
there. "I grew up wondering,
and now as an adult I finally decided
it was time to find some answers."
Says Grissom, "I found HPI, and
decided this was a perfect opportunity
to get some of those questions answered."
All in all it was a WONDERFUL time
and I could really see myself doing
this for a living... Pipe Dream- Probably,
but it was a GREAT souvenir!
