Many
people today wonder if there is a
real career in ghost hunting and paranormal
investigation. Well yes and no is
the answer I give. There are many
oppurtunities to get your fifteen
minutes of fame but as a life long
adventure it may not be in the cards
for you personally.
Ghost and the people
who hunt them or in the news. but
the fame of such Ghost Hunters as
Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson is a
force to be recconed with. The paranomal
plumbers seem to have the marketaall
under control. And if your looking
to be the next best haunted investigator
on televsion get in line.
I was really taken back
recently at a carer day event in a
Texas, mall in Houston where a team
of paranormal Investigators showed
up to entice young Americans to focus
on the paranormal as a future job
source. I stood by and listened as
they explained the many job opputuities
of a field investigator, Paranormal
web site developer, Paranormal Technical
equipment manger, Ghost and Paranormal
Activity Evidence analsyst, Paranormal
writer and journalist and so on. I
guess I was more impressed that this
south Texan group were taking paranormal
research to the next level.
They said to a small
group that you can host your own Paranormal
radio show or host a internet program
that will expose all the new truths
about ghossts and the people who hunt
for them. All of this I thought to
myself is great if only it was part
of what is not already going on. They
went on to say the demand for paranomal
event co-ordinators and confrences
across the country or looking for
people to design and help with their
marketing. Designing booths, getting
publicity, and arranging for talent
and setting up programs.
Their professionalism
astounded me as they spoke about the
area of paranomal equipment development
and computor programing as a way to
help others gain the knowledge of
what the field will demand in the
next 10 years. I really hate to say
it but this group was either conning
the public or themselves.
The paranormal community
is stil in it's infancy. We as Investigators
and would be ghost enthusiest seem
to be caught in a trend right now
where those that know how to manipulate
us are takeing advantage of our pursuits.
The media loves to write about us
and focus it's attention on what we
do. Soon The paranormal will be an
even bigger business then we might
imagine. Once all the craze is turned
into something special by some marketing
genuis in the very near future.
Paranonromal
Confrences and Conventions
TAPS Had The Best So
Far 2008. I know a lot of this rings
true. And many of you weither you
like the people involved with it or
not would also agree. TAPS Jason Hawes
and Grant Wilson just did it with
TAPSCON in Florida which I attended.
And I was amazed when I saw the great
"Paranormal Ghost Hunters Machine"
which Sci-fi has generated in action.
Someday we will be an
accepted science then turned into
a everyday accepted fact they said.
At least thats the ghist I got out
of it. Their was music movies and
all sorts of things just like a regular
sci-fi or normal trade show. The entertainment
factor was brillent so were the panaels
and the turn out. Probally in 2009
the attendence will double or triple.
Some think or cal l
ghost hunting the new age religion.
And believe that it will be the do,
all must attend, thing to do. I guess
Grant and Jason our favorite ghost
hunters or looking forsome thing to
do with their many followers as they
know someday soon the Ghost Hunters
will be cancelled. So why not use
the fans you have now to make some
money and capitilize on the star power
that the show has so inadvertedly
given them.
Forget about your real
paranormal evidence agenda for a while
now and take your lead from others
in the field it seems. Jump on the
paranormal machine that Sci-fi has
given us and come party, hunt for
ghosts, trade secrets and talk a bit
of ghost gossip and have fun. Get
an autograph and be entertained by
Blue Oyster cult. That was the general
feel of how the Tapscon Convention
went.
Think you know everything
about your favorite haunted paranormal
Ghost Hunter celebrity? Conventions
seem to give you the chance to find
out. I actually got to ask Grant Wilson
a question or two. I asked was does
the future hold for him and he said
I qoute: "More Ghosts and Understanding
of the paranormal things that occur."
I asked The Ghost Hunter's main haunted
homeboy, would their be a Tapscon
2009." And he said, "They
will be many more from the turn out
he saw."
So I guess a career
in Paranormal studies is just around
the corner thanks to two plumbers
who are just learning to hunt for
ghost for real for themselves.
Where
can I get a degree or a job in parapsychology?
The payoff is that parapsychology,
like other scientific frontiers, is
an extremely challenging discipline
with plenty of room for exploring
creative ideas and making significant
advancements to the state-of-the-art.
If you expect fast solutions to easy
problems, or absolute answers to clear
questions, then parapsychology is
definitely not for you. If you enjoy
exploring the full range of human
potential and pushing your creative
talent to its limit, then there is
no better discipline than parapsychology.
Many people would like
to study human consciousness, parapsychology,
transpersonal psychology, or some
combination of these fields. While
these topics are of great interest,
the number of courses and degrees
available in these topics are - surprisingly
- very few. People often believe that
there are undergraduate or graduate-level
programs at universities known for
having parapsychology labs, especially
Duke University. And while it is not
widely known, both Harvard and Stanford
Universities have fellowships endowed
explicitly for psychical research
(but they don't advertise it, and
most of the available funds have been
usurped for other purposes).
Historically, academia has regarded
psychic phenomena as an embarrassment
due to the sensational spin that the
entertainment industry puts on this
topic, along with the often outrageous
claims made by proponents of New Age
ideas. As a result, while funds to
create programs and courses have been
available, they've languished for
years.
The bottom line is that there is
not a single accredited academic program
in parapsychology offered anywhere
in the United States.
This is not to say that classes
in parapsychology aren't offered occasionally,
even at major universities (such as
the University of California, Davis),
or that you cannot work on an accredited
PhD with emphasis in parapsychology
- because you can. The point is that
you cannot earn an accredited degree
in this topic. If you were really
desperate to get a PhD in parapsychology,
you could always buy one from any
number of diploma paper mills. But
you might as well save your money
and print one up yourself.

Zaffis' Web site PRSNE (Paranormal
Research Society Of New England)
exists with the sole purpose to
help people who are having paranormal
experiences or are being tormented
by harmful spirits. This site does
not exist to make money, and we
do not endorse or sell products.
We conduct an honest investigation
and will give you an honest evaluation
of the haunting.
PRSNE do not charge for conducting
an investigation. They will ask
for travel reimbursement, which
can include gas, airline tickets,
phone and tolls. They generally
travel by car whenever possible
to keep the costs to a minimum.
Due to the reality that there are
always those who can not financially
reimburse this amount, the fee will
vary on case by case basis. If you
