| Ghost
Hunters also need to be aware of many
things today. From their surroundings
to location and activities of everyone
that's on their team. There appears
to be a fairly common misperception
that Ghost Hunting equals license
to go into a place or business and
just snoop around through peoples
homes lives and personal items.
I often have heard scandalous tales
of haunted residence being robbed
after or during an investigation.
Also openly from a very reliable source
that, one particular well known Ghost
Hunting group told the client after
certain items disappeared from their
home. "The ghosts took it because
they were angry for you calling us
in to investigate them."
Many Ghost Hunting groups have formed
around the world but too few have
ever actually screened or had any
type of background check run on it's
many members. Sometimes you get lucky
and get all wonderful people says
Kirby Wilson of Atlanta Haunts and
Spirit Investigations. Wilson who
has set up her group over 4 times
in the past two years is now is still
searching for serious minded members
with good credentials. " I've
gotten people who have joined only
to find out in time that they had
Police records for breaking and entering."
"Or Things in the homes would
turn up missing after our initial
visit and subsequent follow up."
"The troubles and woes this brought
me made me disband the group two times."
"The third time was because each
of my ten person team thought it was
a time to party! And ghost hunting
with people using drugs and Alcohol
was a Ghost Hunting tool THAT is not
conducive to the Program."
Many Groups run into these types
of problems and more. New members
come and go for many diverse reasons.
But few groups set of guidelines or
even protocols that should be followed
to the nth degree. Wilson Like so
many others has resorted to using
online services to screen her new
applicants. "It may cost me a
few dollars but I ask that Up front
as a membership fee," says Wilson.
" And it saves me a few headaches
so far, also I have made up an application
form and ask them to fill it out asking
questions such as have you ever been
arrested." " Now I also
have a rule Book with very set criteria
so that if any of the rules are broken
they know their membership to our
group will be terminated." "I
do not discriminate against people,
If I find out they have a police record
I just ask them to be honest with
me." Says Wilson.
Many personalities and methods of
investigation don't mix well. We all
know this happens in every field and
surly the reason ghost Hunters and
their members often disagree. If I
had a nickel for the many emails or
conversations I have had from Paranormal
investigators talking of inner group
turmoil's, or bashing others or groups
I'd be rich. Often coup 's happen
and groups split. But that's when
it all becomes a popularity contest.
Many Groups and teams of paranormal
investigators are appealing to anyone
who would like them to check for spooky
activity to get in touch. This is
because so many unprofessional groups
often go in team after team and destroy
the credibility of the group that
follows. When un professionalism leads
the way how can dedicated people follow
and investigate the location that
that group did before them.
Has Television Given
Paranormal Investigation Really A
Bad name?
If you watch shows like Ghost Hunters
or any of the paranormal dramas all
resolves itself in 1hour or less.
But that's not real ghost hunting
and those of us really know this to
be true. But the public and a few
novice groups just do what they see
on television. So the Bar of excellence
has been raised Ghost Whisperer,"
"Medium," "Paranormal
State" and "Ghost Hunters."
That means the Real Ghost Investigators
and those that research all that are
strange are now the Experts in the
Par normal Field.
Their are some groups that will set
you straight if you call them a ghost
hunter. They prefer to be called Paranormal
Investigators. others prefer Paranormal
Detectives, Supernatural P. I.'s or
Ghost Busters. I guess it's all in
what they personally consider politically
correct or who they want to be aligned
with.
I am in no way knocking television
just stating that the public has their
opinion of how they see things being
done and consider this their learning
tool. Some of our future ground breaking
ghost hunters will get their start
from watching and enjoying these shows.
"Ghost reality shows have really
opened the door for people to get
involved themselves," said James
Willis, founder of The Ghosts of Ohio.
In a recent USA Today article. Visit
here
"We're actually grateful for
("Ghost Hunters") because
instead of being a bunch of freaks,
we're like the cool people on TV,"
founder Pat Jones said. "People
used to look at us like we were absolutely
insane, and now they want to come
along with us. It's almost like every
day is Halloween."

Top
Ten Paranormal Ghost Investigators
In America
1. Troy Taylor

Author of 49 books about history,
haunting's and the unexplained in
America for Whitechapel Press and
Barnes & Noble Press respectively.
He is the founder and president of
the “American Ghost Society”,
a national network of ghost hunters
that collects stories of ghost sightings
and haunted houses and uses investigative
techniques to track down evidence
of the supernatural.
Taylor was born on September 24,
1966 in Decatur, Illinois, a Midwestern
city that is steeped in legend and
lore. Even the hospital in which he
was born is allegedly haunted by a
phantom nun! He grew up fascinated
with “things that go bump in
the night”, as well as the writings
of haunted travel writer Richard Winer
and legendary ghost hunter, Harry
Price. In school, Taylor was well-known
for his interest in the paranormal
and often took friends on informal
ghost tours of haunted places all
over downstate Illinois. He would
later turn this interest into his
full-time career.
In 1989, Taylor started working in
a bookstore and a few years later,
he wrote his first book on ghosts.
It was called Haunted Decatur and
delved into the ghosts and hauntings
of the city where he grew up. He also
created a tour that took guests to
places that he had written about in
the book. The book became an immediate
success and its popularity, along
with his previous experiences with
ghost hunting, established Taylor
as an authority on the supernatural.
The book and tour led to media and
public appearances and numerous requests
to investigate ghostly phenomena.
In 1996, Taylor organized a group
of ghost enthusiasts into an investigation
team and the American Ghost Society
was launched, gained over 600 members
in the years that followed. The organization
continues today as one of America’s
largest and most honored research
groups.
In 1998, Taylor moved his operations,
which now included the American Ghost
Society, a history and haunting's
bookstore and a publishing company
called Whitechapel Press, to Alton,
Illinois, near St. Louis. In Alton,
Taylor started his second tour company,
Alton Hauntings, which took guests
to local haunted places in the small
Mississippi River town. He would go
on to put the place on the map as
“one of the most haunted small
towns in America.”
Taylor remained in Alton until 2005,
when he returned to Decatur. By then,
he had also established two more tour
companies, in Springfield, Illinois
and another company that arranges
overnight stays in haunted places
called American Hauntings. These tours,
including those in Decatur and Alton,
were organized under the heading of
the Illinois Hauntings Ghost Tours.
Taylor also continued the operation
of Whitechapel Press, which specializes
in ghost-related titles and has more
than a dozen authors working under
its banner.
In 2006, Taylor also launched the
Weird Chicago Tours, which are based
on his book, Weird Illinois, which
was published by Barnes & Noble
Press. In 2007, Illinois Hauntings
also launched ghost tours in Lebanon,
Illinois and in Jacksonville.
In 2007, Taylor incorporated as Dark
Haven Entertainment, Inc., a parent
company for Whitechapel Press, the
Illinois Hauntings Tours and for the
Ghosts of the Prairie Web site and
Magazine. The new company also handles
the film rights to Troy's ghost books
and stories. Currently, there are
three of his works optioned for possible
film and television production.
Along with writing about the unusual
and hosting tours, Taylor is also
a public speaker on the subject of
ghosts and hauntings and has spoken
to literally hundreds of private and
public groups on a variety of paranormal
subjects. He has appeared in newspaper
and magazine articles about ghosts
and has also been fortunate enough
to be interviewed hundreds of times
for radio and television broadcasts
about the supernatural. He has also
appeared in a number of documentary
films, several television series and
in one feature film about the paranormal.
He currently resides in Central Illinois
with his wife, Haven, in a decidedly
non-haunted house.

3. Gina Lanier

This great Ghost lady
has been having and researching Ghosts
and the Paranormal events for over
30 years. What ever the strange and
otherworldly occurrences happening
in the deep south happen... Gina Lanier
is there. www.ginalanier.com
has many of her articles and insights
into the field and the web site is
updated very often . Paranormal Topics
include everything
from
Sex With Ghosts
to
haunted Teddy
Bears.

Gina Lanier believes
that researching real hauntings takes
dedications and an awareness that
what you see is what is really happening.
To believe in in the paranormal is
not enough. And to remain skeptical
is always the key.
GINA LANIER is a New
Orleans native who has studied paranormal
activities, the occult and hauntings
for now over thirty years. She has
participated in and conducted large-scale
location hauntings and recently has
shifted her focus to include the investigation
and study of haunted toys such as
dolls, toy furniture, games and other
hallmarks of childhood.
Gina’s paranormal studies stem
from several childhood experiences
with the unknown including witnessing
full body apparitions and clairaudient
encounters with deceased relatives.
These experiences continued beyond
childhood and this is when Gina resolved
to learn as much as possible about
psychic and paranormal phenomenon
to determine what, exactly, was making
contact with her and with others who
claimed to have been contacted from
the Other Side.
Gina owns and operates a construction
and refurbishment company in the Greater
New Orleans area and this has afforded
her exposure to many allegedly un
reachable or closed off haunted locations
and people over the years; several
of these clients welcomed Gina’s
expertise and insight when it came
to documenting and investigating their
haunted homes and businesses.
I am not a psychic and am not in
the habit of making predictions. However,
I do anticipate much more interest
in these areas of the paranormal,
the unexplained and Ghosts in general.
I think that with technological advances
further proof of the paranormal will
be available to us very soon. I use
conventional and sometimes just out
of the ordinary equipment. I once
encountered a a real Ghost once at
the Babylon Mardi Gras Float Den that
would unplug a radio if he did not
like the music that was playing.
I feel that Groups need to stress
the & steeps of ghost hunting.
The fear of failure to face your own
fears, more than anything else, holds
people back. It paralyzes action.
Couple this with ghost hunting and
all is amplified by 10. And it makes
failure inevitable. They may take
the first step but you must learn
to follow through in a timely manner.
Tell your self you will investigate
a location, by such and such a date
physically, that is known to be haunted.
So, go research it on the computer
first. Then talk to people. Start
with your friends and their friends.
Then call or visit the haunted location.
you don't need to bring anything with
you or even go inside. see what you
feel about it inside. go as many times
as you need to get comfortable with
it. Only to bring your equipment when
your ready to investigate it. Well,
think of it this way. Often you go
on vacation, you take photos of what?
the things that interest you.
Fortunately, even if you know nothing
about the world of ghost chasing,
you can begin with a dream of finding
or photographing a real ghost, an
apparition, or orb in the air, and
then build a foundation under it.
Once you got it research it further,
show it to friends, document their
reactions and feelings about what
the Ghost photo is, or isn't of.
These Seven Simple Steps To Becoming
A Ghost hunter/Paranormal Investigator
have helped many that I let tag along
with me, I hope it is a help to you
and getting your ghost hunting, chasing,
or paranormal Investigation under
way:
The starting point of many great
haunted adventures has been these
seven simple steps. This is how many
have begun. Remember most in the field
of ghost hunting It is a profession
that is mostly self taught.
1. Set a goal to capture a ghost on
film, or EVP's or witness a haunting.
Back it up with a burning desire
to research and get out and do it...
Just sitting their reading this is
the start, but go seek out a haunting.
Investigate the known facts of what
others say is happening. Question
it! And of course do you believe it?
Did the ghost of Voodoo Queen Marie
Laveau of New Orleans just visit a
downtown Hotel in Florida? It is said
she appeared to 300 people and her
head flew off and then the furniture
shook then she disappeared not before
saying " I'll be back"?
Sounds really Crazy? Go find out
for your self. Investigate the haunting
see if it's the truth! No matter what
you hear it is yours to discern if
it is true.
2. Begin accumulating friends and
family's Ghost stories, ghost photos,
or talk about a haunted location,
other then already documented cases.
This also a great thing to start
for a novice. Talk with friends family
or people you work with or meet. You
might be surprised at what people
close to you know or what they have
had happened to them or their family,
don't be surprised at what they may
tell you. With a regular get together
you might start your own haunted group.
Or you might go join one with an established
group.
Nothing else is possible without
this. You can't move forward until
you start a learning program. Either
your personal learning or as a group
it will only spark you to go out and
seek a haunting.
3. Use your current Ideas as a springboard
to later ghost hunting success. Learn
while you earn valuable new insights.
Take the long view. Decide what
you can handle and what you won't.
Many people will not investigate the
spot where a recent murder has occurred.
Others will not investigate Suicides,
or where the terminally ill have been
or mentally disturbed have died. Specialties
in haunting and type of ghost, or
the choice of what type of haunting
you investigate is yours. Historical
or recent.
4. Experiment in ways to set up finding
a new or different really haunted
location and documenting what people
have to say.
You might need a little courage
to walk up to a stranger and say ...
"Do you think this place is haunted?"
I have a friend who met his wife from
that statement. It's a great opening
line. you might be shocked at the
answer you get. Or ask do you believe
in ghost.
5. Search for ghost hunting equipment
that you already might have.,
Camera's, video or digital recorders
voice recorders, flashlights, and
etc. Look through the newspapers and
on the web for ghost hunting products
or equipment you can afford at a good
quality and at a reasonable prices.
6. Read everything you can find on
your chosen haunted ghost investigating
field. Take a haunted walk or city
ghost tour. analyze the haunted location
and the story you hear. Remember this
is a form of research. Check out a
haunted cemetery, or haunted American
battle Field or haunted house or haunted
hotel. Ghost may be right in your
back yard and you don't know it.
Remain flexible. Be willing to change
your mind if you get different information.
It is always good to remain skeptical
of anyone's claims as well as what
you might uncover. Just because this
is one persons account of a haunting
it does not mean that yours will be
the same. and if it is then your investigation
gives validation to theirs. don't
be afraid to investigate a well known
overly investigated haunting.
You'd be a fool not to, you will
see how much new information and details
surface to your investigation that
will answer your questions and give
you more to ponder.
7. Implement your plans with courage
and persistence.
Do you know how you will react if
you see a ghost? Will your heart race,
will you run away? Have complete faith
in your ability to succeed and never,
ever give up. No two experiences are
the same. And here are two steps you
can take immediately to start moving
toward your personal ghost hunting
success:
The most important thing is just
to begin. To move forward one step
at a time, learning and growing as
you go. There's enough haunted ghost
stories and their information available
in virtually every location of the
United States of paranormal happenings
for you to become knowledgeable enough
to achieve success. But taking the
haunted ghost filled first step is
a necessity.
Every novice haunted investigations
requires an act of faith and courage,
a bold leap into the real unknown.
Only one in ten people who want to
start their own ghost hunts or haunted
investigations ever develop enough
courage to begin, and enough persistence
to continue. They really don't know
their fear level until they get out
there and do it. And the only thing
to be afraid of is that first step.
Here follows my 7 steps to starting
you on the road to becoming a Ghost
Hunter.
Ghost Hunting & Investigating
Paranormal Activity may be Adventurous
and Fun but Permission should ALWAYS
be sought so that Private Residences
are Respected, Public buildings Not
Trespassed! Abandoned areas should
STILL be respected and permission
sought to be on them, while Condemned
areas should not be trespassed, period
- This includes cemeteries also.
Stop by the local police station
and ask if it would be permitted for
you to be on any area or place, and
to also let them know you will be
there if it's ok for you to do so,
(including permission of owners should
be sought). Vandalism is unacceptable,
and could land you in jail or any
other amount of trouble.

Task Force

Greg
And Judy Myers
If their is anyone that
I would personally want to Ghost Hunt
beside it would be the entire team
of Paranormal Task Force. Greg and
Judy Myers in My book or the best
and most reliable knowledgeable people
in the business. They have also been
likened to the married team of Ed
and Lorraine Warren.
The Myers have been
the directors of Paranormal
Task Force www.paranormaltaskforce.com
and to date they have investigated
many hauntings. The goal of the P.T.F
. has been to share information with
other groups who are investigating
the same type of phenomenon and to
help people are plagued by the supernatural.

Greg Myers - President
Founding Director - Lead Investigator
- EVP Specialist Administrator MPR
Divison. Greg has had personal paranormal
encounters since being a teen and
has years of paranormal investigative
experience. He is well versed with
haunting classifications, paranormal
investigative techniques and leadership
through example. Greg has served as
a technician and supervisor while
serving in the military and has further
enhanced his education and abilities
with legal issues while serving over
ten years in the legal field. With
his background of legal issues, lobbying
experience and issue advocation, he
hopes to apply these skills to the
enactment and strengthening of "haunted
house" and "psychological
impact" disclosure laws for prospective
property owners, tenets and lessees.
Greg also has an extensive background
in genealogical research and familiarization
with record research vital to the
research of potential haunted properties.
Greg is one that shares the philosophy
that paranormal investigations can
come with many unknown dangers which
are not properly addressed by most
of the paranormal research field.
This and other important issues are
overlooked and need further advocation
to current and future researchers
and investigators within this field.
Greg adheres to a Humanistic Approach
to investigations which always places
the client first above everything
else.
Greg became part of MISSOURI PARANORMAL
RESEARCH™ in August of 2005
serving as a co-
administrator, lead investigator and
EVP specialist. While serving with
MPR, Greg became an
instrumental element in the collection
and analysis of evidence in a case
involving an extreme
"inhuman" haunting and possession.
This Haunting was featured on the
Discovery Channel's "A
Haunting" series as the Season
3 opener in October 2006. Greg then
co-founded PARANORMAL TASK FORCE,
Inc. in October 2006. PARANORMAL TASK
FORCE™, Inc. is a not for profit
incorporation which educates and promotes
the awareness of paranormal research
as well as other historical and paranormal
related issues along with providing
assistance to the public and other
organizations. MISSOURI PARANORMAL
RESEARCH™ now serves as its
non-extreme investigative and research
division while other divisions will
be launched making Paranormal Task
Force™, Inc. a "One Stop"
resource for all paranormal needs
of clients, the public and other organizations
as well.
Greg has been a featured guest on
many radio stations across the US,
UK, and Canada and has
completed filming earlier this year
(2007) with Keith Age and The Booth
Brothers for "Children of the
Grave" which was released October
2, 2007 on DVD and will show on the
SciFi Network in 2008. He also served
as a Location Manager for that project.
He also completed filming for the
Exspiro Productions documentary "The
Other Side" which was released
in 2007. Greg has also authored articles
and short stories concerning his experiences
within the paranormal realms and theories
related to such which are published
on the World Wide Web. Some of these
articles and stories have been selected
for inclusion in “Weird Hauntings
II” and “Weird Missouri”
which will be published in the near
future.
Greg has also recently been added
to the League of Paranormal Gentlemen.

Judy Myers - First Vice President
Founding Director - Sensitive Investigator
Administrator ParaVoyance Division
Judy is considered a Clairvoyant
and Psychic Medium by many, however
Judy has considered this gift "a
curse" since childhood. Judy
has had a Near Death Experience (NDE)
while she was a teenager, an experience
which only heightened her gift with
its full inclusion into all six areas
of perception; Clairvoyance, Clairsentience,
Clairaudience, Clairalience, Claircognizance
and Clairgustance.
Throughout her life Judy has always
been exposed to the paranormal against
her own will which has given her a
very different perception of both
life and the after life. It was finally
her husband whose interest of helping
others experiencing the darker side
of paranormal activity finally brought
light to how Judy could apply her
gift.
Judy became part of MISSOURI PARANORMAL
RESEARCH™ in August of 2005
serving as an assistant administrator
and sensitive investigator. Since
serving in the paranormal investigative
and research field, Judy has become
an invaluable resource in assisting
on investigations where her gift has
been used partially to determine equipment
placement resulting in concrete captures
of the unknown. Her gift has also
been very beneficial in the determination
of haunting sources, potential dangers
and allows closure to be brought to
clients seeking such. Both research
and evidentiary captures have validated
her gift as both real and accurate
to others.
Judy became an instrumental element
in a case involving an extreme "inhuman"
haunting and
possession. This Haunting was featured
on the Discovery Channel's "A
Haunting" series as the Season
3 opener in October 2006. Judy then
co-founded PARANORMAL TASK FORCE,
Inc. in October 2006.
Paranormal Task Force, Inc. is a not
for profit incorporation which educates
and promotes the
awareness of paranormal research as
well as other historical and paranormal
related issues along with providing
assistance to the public and other
organizations. MISSOURI PARANORMAL
RESEARCH now serves as its non-extreme
investigative and research division.
In July 2007 Judy founded PARAVOYANCE™,
a new division of PARANORMAL TASK
FORCE™, Inc., devoted to the
psychic and other metaphysical aspects
of paranormal realms. PARAVOYANCE™
not only assists clients and other
divisions of Paranormal Task Force,
but also other individuals and organizations
as well.
Judy completed filming as a sensitive
investigator along with her daughter
earlier this year (2007) with Keith
Age and The Booth Brothers for "Children
of the Grave" which was released
on October 2, 2007

and in some cases bring full closure
for the client.
ParaVoyance™ "Your Connection
to the Other Side" is devoted
to the Clairvoyant (Psychic)
and Metaphysical realms that intertwine
with the paranormal. This division
provides clients,
and other organizations or groups
with such resources to assist with
their needs.
PTF understands the importance of
the Clairvoyant and Metaphysical aspects
within the
paranormal realms. Many times a proven
Clairvoyant/Psychic or "Sensitive"
as they may call
themselves can be a very valuable
attribute to have during client interviews,
investigations
and research of a location. Having
such can assist in locating equipment
for captures,
assessing the situation for unseen
dangers, providing valuable leads
in researching,
assisting in spirit rescue and making
other connections to the other side
for specialized
needs. Also in today's modern age,
many clients and investigators have
taken a more
metaphysical approach in their beliefs
and practices resulting in a higher
need for assistance
and consultation in these other realms
as well.
Weather it is to assist a client
or another investigative group, we
are here to lend a hand!
This division is administered and
led by Judy Myers and Matt Hendrix.
PTF X-TREME™ is
devoted to emergent and extreme paranormal
situations where the activity
is malevolent, malicious, and negative
enough to be causing physical and/or
psychological
risks to the client and/or their family.
Such situations warrant immediate
intervention and
become our highest priority. We utilize
multiple resources including a full
Faith & Spiritual
Advisory Team to assist in you in
your darkest hour. We also provide
assistance to other
paranormal and research organizations
as needed. This division is administrated
and led by
Jeremiah Niere and Bryan McQueen.
