1. 'Ghost Hunters
Ghost Hunters is a reality television series featuring Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who work a day job as Roto-Rooter plumbers and investigate places that are reported to be haunted.
Ghost Hunters is an American paranormal reality television series that premiered on October 6, 2004 on the SciFi Channel (now called Syfy). The program features paranormal investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson who investigate places that are reported to be haunted. The two originally worked as plumbers for Roto-Rooter as a day job while investigating locations at night. Since the show's success, the series now takes precedence in their lives, but they are still honorary employees with the company and continue to do jobs for them if time permits.
The show should not be confused with the original 1996 Inca Productions show Ghosthunters produced for the Discovery Channel. The format was sold to Pilgrim Films & Television in the United States to become Ghost Hunters. The only remaining link between the two shows is presenter Ian Cashmore who anchored the UK/Europe show. Cashmore piloted the U.S. show, but chose not to remain part of the U.S. venture after he filmed the promos.
2. Ghost Hunters International
A spin off series which premiered Wednesday, January 9, 2008 and has featured investigators Robb Demarest, and Barry Fitzgerald (who appeared in the summer 2007 Ireland episodes of Ghost Hunters) since the onset along with other rotating members from the TAPS family.[11] The format is similar to Ghost Hunters but features investigations in various locations around the world. The team has included former Ghost Hunters
investigators Andy Andrews, Brian Harnois, Shannon Sylvia, Donna LaCroix, Dustin Pari and Joe Chin.
3. UFO Hunters
Ghost Hunters producers Craig Pilligan and Tom Thayer released another paranormal investigation series titled UFO Hunters which first aired on January 30, 2008, however the show only aired one episode. The episode followed New York Strange Phenomena Investigators (NY-SPI) co-founders Oliver Kemenczky and Ted Davis, along with paranormal researcher Dennis Anderson, as they investigated an alleged alien abduction case in Carteret, New Jersey and a strange fireball sighting in Normandy Beach, New Jersey. The format was similar to a typical Ghost Hunters episode with most of the program dedicated to the investigation and wrapped up with a review of findings and evidence that was gathered. This series should not be confused with the History Channel series with the same name. The pilot episode was reformatted and returned on December 13, 2008 as a special called Ny-Spi Investigates on Investigation Discovery.
UFO HUNTERS follows the team of Bill Birnes, Kevin Cook and Pat Uskert, as they investigate UFO cases around the world. The team's access to UFO evidence is unparalleled—and their expertise allows them to quickly identify bogus claims of UFOs. Together, they use eyewitness accounts, scientific experimentation, documents recently released through the Freedom of Information Act and footage that has never been seen on television to piece together compelling—and sometimes chilling—evidence of UFO phenomena.
This season they will investigate some contemporary cases where video and audio evidence are in abundance, and dig into history for evidence of sightings going back centuries. Their investigations will take them across North America and Europe including Tinley Park, Illinois; Kokomo, Indiana; Aurora, Texas; a fresh look at Roswell, New Mexico; and others—spanning the years from 1897 to 2008.
On October 23, 2008, TV Guide reported that Syfy will launch a spin-off of the show called Ghost Hunters: College Edition, which will feature co-eds in the ghost hunter roles. The name was later revealed to be Ghost Hunters Academy. It will be led by Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango and will feature college students.

5. 'Paranormal State
Paranormal State is a docudramar eality television series for A&E about a student-led college club, the Pennsylvania State University Paranormal Research Society. The show depicts the students' investigations of paranormal activity and supernatural phenomena.
Ryan Buell founded the Paranormal Research Society the first month he arrived on campus in September 2001. Buell always knew he was interested in the paranormal ever since he could read. He regularly checked out books from the library ranging from poltergeists to the Bermuda Triangle. A native of Sumter, South Carolina, Buell began investigating at the age of 15. His first investigation was on the Salem-Black River Church just outside of his hometown.
After three years as Director of the PRS, Buell was invited to speak at colleges and high schools all over the east coast. Two book proposals have also been offered since him founding PRS, as well as several television opportunities. Buell was approached by producer Betsy Schechter during spring break in 2005 and was instantly interested in working with him and his group for a TV series. Later that year, Schechter found a home for PRS and its show: A&E. A year later, filming began for "Paranormal State," a half-hour docu-drama that chronicles PRS and their investigations into the paranormal. Schechter also made Buell a producer for the show.
Buell got his first degree in May 2006. He is now finishing another degree while working on the first season of "Paranormal State." Buell also announced that he would write a book in 2007. Aside from the paranormal, Buell travels the world, writes, is an avid movie junkie and is a freelance journalist.
Heather Taddy is a senior at Penn State, majoring in Film and Media Studies, with an invested interest in French. She spent her first two years at a branch campus in Altoona, her hometown. In Fall 2005, she discovered PRS after reading an article about the club in the Halloween edition of the campus newspaper. The following year she transferred to main campus and started attending PRS meetings.
"PRS is the only club that I am a part of," said Taddy, "but if I had more time I would definitely join the comedy club."
When asked about what she thinks are her greatest accomplishments while at Penn State, she lists joining PRS and the opportunity to participate on a major television show.
In the future, she hopes to continue documenting and helping those who experience hauntings with PRS. She also wants to pursue a career in the film/TV industry to explore her creativity. Outside of PRS, you can find Heather creating music with her experimental/progressive rock band, working at Hot Topic and producing experimental films.
Eilfie Music is currently the Field Investigation & Research Director for PRS. Her interest in the paranormal started at an early age. Music was raised in an open spiritual setting, and she eventually chose paganism as her faith. Her deceased father was a brilliant man with a Ph. D in Social Anthropology, yet he surprised people when they learned that he was an occultist.
Eilfie's father had only a passing interest in the paranormal, but he encouraged Eilfie to pursue what she cared about. She spent the majority of her time within the pages of books dealing with paranormal research and stories.
After she graduated from high school, she found out about PRS and has been a member ever since. She continues to study and observe various aspects of occult practice. This knowledge of various religions and their practices comes in handy with PRS when they try to understand the belief structures of the individuals they meet.
Outside of PRS, she is a painter. She is also working with an author for an upcoming autobiography.
Katrina Weidman is a senior at Penn State earning a dual degree in Integrative arts with an emphasis in music production and Theatre with an emphasis in performance. She originally wasn't going to attend college, but after dropping a friend off at University Park and seeing the campus, she knew it was where she belonged. The next day she signed up for classes at Bucks County Community College, which she attended for two years before transferring to Penn State University Park in 2004. Besides being an investigator for the Paranormal Research Society, she's been a member of the Penn State Snowboard club since 2004. In 2005 she joined The Lion 90.7 fm as a co-host for a variety of shows and voice over work.
She was born and raised in Bucks County, PA along with an older sister and a younger brother. She was born into an artistic family - both of her parents perform in their spare time and her mother writes original musicals for local playhouses. Some of her earliest memories are watching her mother and father tap dance together on stage; this also coincides with some of her strangest memories of her father dressed in drag for multiple shows. "Either way, my parents helped to shape my love and appreciation for performance art, which is why I'm a performer; I guess you could say it's in my blood."
Besides theatre, Katrina writes her own music. At the age of 11, she taught herself how to play piano. She learned how to play songs by ear and it lead into writing her own music. In 2003 she co-wrote a song with her mother for her first original musical called "Curtain Call for Murder."
"As long as I can remember I've had an interest in the paranormal," says Katrina. "I knew Penn State was a perfect fit, not only did they offer majors that fit my wants and needs, but they had a paranormal club. I joined the club in 2006 and went through extensive training to become an investigator. I absolutely love every minute of what I do. I get to help people, learn about the paranormal, work with amazing people, and now that we have a show with A&E I get to work in the entertainment world as well. "
When she has free time outside of school and PRS, she enjoys snowboarding, singing, dancing, cooking, knitting, coloring, working out, music, the beach, playing piano, going out with friends, her family, animals and driving. She's also always up for a good movie and nap on the couch.
Sergey Poberezhny, as you can see, has a very long last name. That must mean one thing: he is foreign. For those of you who guessed that, give yourself a star. Sergey was born in Sevastopol, Ukraine. A place so small and unknown that he would just tell people he was born in Moscow to make things easier. He left Ukraine when he was 4 years old to travel across Europe. His parents joined him on his adventure. A wrong bus ride in Switzerland caught him by surprise because in 1989 he arrived in New York City.
Sergey didn't know it at the time, but it seemed as if fate was bringing him closer and closer to PRS. He did not start off at the University Park, but instead he chose another campus: Penn State Erie, a campus that was smaller and further away. Spending his time with a variety of activities - hiking, volunteering at a historical society, crashing frat parties, he never imagined getting interested in the paranormal. After several nights of watching shows about the subject, he took it upon himself to find out if the paranormal existed. Getting into his '94 Sentra at midnight, he ended up driving around Erie, looking for ghosts and taking photos. While he did get some amazing photos, he did not get any ghosts.
He put the paranormal behind him until he arrived in University Park. Transferring from another campus meant he had to start fresh in finding friends. After looking through the organizations the main campus had to offer, he found three that he joined: Finance Club, Billiards Club, and Paranormal Research Society. That year, Sergey was still a member in but one of those three clubs.
PRS has had a huge impact on Sergey's life and he hopes it will continue to do so. Outside of PRS, you can find Sergey practicing the art of photography, hiking... doing what all regular people do.

Ghost Lab is a one-hour weekly American paranormal documentary reality television series that premiered on October 6, 2009 on the Discovery Channel. The program is narrated by Mike Rowe and follows and stars brothers Brad and Barry Klinge, who founded Everyday Paranormal (EP), a paranormal investigation and research team.
With the help of the latest technology, two brothers have uncovered some of the most powerful results in supernatural research to date — including a recording of Civil War soldiers talking. Meet Brad and Barry Klinge, Texas natives who in 2007 founded Everyday Paranormal, an investigation team that has explored more than 70 locations and set a new standard in supernatural research with some of the world’s most sophisticated equipment housed in a decked-out traveling "ghost lab."
Brad was born and raised in the Universal City/Schertz area, just outside San Antonio, Texas. He is a 1996 graduate of Southwest Texas State University, with a major in business and a minor in broadcast journalism. Everyday Paranormal is Brad’s full-time job and career. He has always had an interest in the supernatural, and that multiplied tenfold in the summer of 1990, when he was able to witness and film one of the most phenomenal supernatural events ever recorded — an actual ghost regiment. This experience was the driving force behind Brad's decision to form Everyday Paranormal in October 2007. His goal is to take supernatural investigation to a new level with common-sense theories and techniques that so far have led to extraordinary evidence.
Barry was born in Denver, Colo., and moved to Texas when he was 6 months old. He is Brad’s older brother and has lived in the Universal City/Schertz area, near San Antonio, all his life, with a brief stint in the U.S. Navy during the first Gulf War. He worked as a paramedic for 12 years, before graduating in 2006 from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (physical education). Barry has always had an interest in the supernatural. After experiencing many personal encounters over the years, he jumped at the opportunity to conduct professional and scientific research with his brother, Brad, as his full-time job and career. Barry also acts as case manager and does most of the client screening and scheduling.
Traveling the country, the 24-foot car hauler can provide 200,000 watts of electricity to power audio-, video- and photo-analysis stations; flat-screen televisions; and an interactive touch-screen smart board. The lab houses surveillance video cameras capable of shooting 300 feet away in total darkness with a 180-degree peripheral view; temperature, humidity and dew point data loggers; various digital cameras, including thermal-imaging cameras; audio recorders; and more than 8,000 feet of video cable. This on-site high-tech lab enables investigators to analyze data on the premises in real time, helping them to more narrowly focus their investigations on known hot spots.
Join the Klinge brothers, along with some of the world's foremost specialists in science measurements, as they devise and test cutting-edge theories during their investigations, in Ghost Lab.

Tom’s interest in the paranormal started over 10 years ago. After attending numerous organized ghost tours throughout the country, and several personal paranormal experiences, Tom decided to pursue this interest and has had the opportunity to conduct paranormal investigations both overseas and in the US. Tom thoroughly enjoys paranormal investigating and hopes to add more credibility to the field.

Ron Fabiani - Investigator
Ron is known as ‘Fabs’, the powerhouse of the team. He is often seen with a cigar dangling from his lips. He is fluent in Chicago lingo. Fab’s believes that if something happens to defy logic, something else may be taking place.
Ron has been a Police Officer in the Chicago-land area since 1987 and has had training in many areas which include Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, Gang Specialist, Homicide Investigations. Ron has also enjoyed many different assignments as well. They include, patrol, Investigations, Tactical Unit, Auto Theft and Homicide Task Forces, as well as numerous supervisory and command positions as well.
Ron has been intrigued by the Paranormal for many years. Since 1987, Ron has enjoyed tours of many notoriously haunted areas around Chicago-land. Since then, Ron had experienced some significant paranormal activity which he had captured on video. This prompted Ron to pursue an explanation. Ron discovered there were other Police Officers who wanted answers for apparent paranormal occurrences. Ron subsequently formed, the Chicago Paranormal Detectives. Ron’s goal is to find "evidence" of paranormal activity and, to help people who request assistance from this group.
Aside from enjoying the work he does in these two fields, Ron enjoys family time with his children.
Austin can put anyone at ease with his country boy bigger than life attitude. Through the observation of evidence, his skepticism is beginning to disappear somewhat and he is getting closer to believing.
Austin has been in Law Enforcement since 2005. To date, Austin’s duties have included uniformed patrol, tactical patrol assignments, continuing education for children and other special assignments relative to resistance of gang crimes and narcotics. Austin’s interest in Law Enforcement began as he watched his Father and Brother (also experienced Police Officers) as they worked Criminal and Civil cases with “Weinstock Investigations”. (a family owned and operated business) This is where Austin learned the reliable, professional, objective and “call it like you see it” approach to Investigations. Austin feels every claim and statement demands evidence.
Austin's interest in the paranormal started in 2000, when he observed what seemed to be a paranormal experience. In the beginning it was questions such as, "Where do we go when we leave this earth?" "How does it work?" "What remains and what leaves?" After a while of not being able to answer these questions, he decided to move forward and seek his own explanations. Austin believes there are people who experience more than they are willing to share and would like the opportunity to investigate those experiences. Austin simply desires to share the truth of what has been seen, heard, felt, etc. With an evidentiary value, Austin believes CPD will bring professionalism and credibility to the field.
Outside his official duties and paranormal intrigue, Austin cherishes time with his family and friends as well as composing and playing music on the guitar and piano. Whether it’s a day on the lake or a day in the woods, Austin seems to be drawn towards nature.
Pete Schleich - Investigator
Pete is the skeptic of the group. He is a blunt, and “prove it to me" kind of guy. You always know exactly where you stand with Pete. It’s difficult to get him
worked up.
Pete has been in Law Enforcement since 2003. Pete works within the patrol division and has also been trained as an Evidence Technician with experience in forensics for the most accurate processing of crime scenes.
Prior to becoming a Police Officer, Pete worked as a computer consultant for a wide variety of companies. He was also assigned the position of manager and had several teams of engineers reporting to him. This experience afforded Pete the opportunity to learn his technical expertise.
Pete has been interested in the paranormal for some time. He is truly a skeptic and is looking to capture some type of concrete evidence to prove or disprove the presence of the paranormal. He joined the Chicago Paranormal Detectives in order to explore the possibilities of the paranormal.
Moriah Rhame - Medium
Moriah is the Medium of the group and only female team member who happens to be a kidder and knows how to hang with the boys. She is a dedicated member of the team and is able to give insight into paranormal activity that might not otherwise be known. Moriah is not your average Medium and is a Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm combat veteran who served with the 13th Evacuation Hospital, 32nd Medical Brigade, under 7th Corps that was located 40 kilometers from the border of Kuwait in Saudi Arabia.
Moriah grew up Wisconsin where she learned the values of cherishing family and friendships. After college, Moriah worked in the television industry throughout the United States. She is the author of "How to Be a Happy Medium," and explains based on her personal experience how you too, can tap into the universal system of mediumship with simplicity. Moriah teaches workshops throughout the country and is a professional speaker. She has also written an upcoming childrens book. Moriah lives in Northwestern Illinois with her three beloved children
and pets.
Brian Jones - Investigative Assistant
If there was an award in high school for “Least Likely to Investigate Paranormal Activity”, Brian Jones would have won the title running away. Frankly, running away is what he does best. Ironically, Brian is fearless when it comes to revealing the things in life he fears the most: Scary movies, loud noises, and barrel-chested, cigar-chompin’, police officers. So how, precisely, did a man with the fortitude of a small child end up working nights in some of America’s most terrifying places alongside a bunch of cops? It’s a question Brian, and his therapist, grapple with weekly…at $125 an hour.
This less-than-intrepid Investigative Assistant serves as a sort of “canary in the haunted coalmine”: Brian’s uncanny self-preservation instinct is so finely tuned, when he turns tail and runs for the hills, it’s clear spirits are afoot.
Brian has authored two books, is a graduate of Chicago’s famed Second City Conservatory, and was a notary public for a brief time in 1998.
Scot Ziarko - Investigative Assistant
Scot is the teams' video technical member. He is laid back and can be a bit of a devil's advocate but wants to have a life changing paranormal experience. Scot has been a professional videographer and editor for 14 years.
Throughout his career, Scot has worked in the exciting world of non-profit, event, corporate, and legal video production as well as editing in the same.
Scot has filmed events for some of Chicago's biggest sports stars and some of his video footage has been seen on a popular wedding TV program. More recently, Scot has produced music videos and training video DVD's as well as numerous legal videos.
Scot's personal experience as a child got him interested in the paranormal but, his collaboration on a project with fellow CPD Investigator Tom Froelich brought him into the real world of paranormal investigations, which has quickly become a favorite activity.
When he is not working with CPD, Scot enjoys spending time with his family and supporting them in their personal activities.

NEW YORK, NY - January 6, 2009 - A&E sets out on a ghost patrol with the greenlight of the new original real-life series "Paranormal Cops," following a team of Chicago-area police officers who also work as paranormal investigators. The network also announced the third season of hit original real-life series "Paranormal State." The third season of "Paranormal State" premieres Monday, January 19 at 10PM ET/PT and "Paranormal Cops" is currently and tentatively slated to premiere later in 2009.
"'Paranormal Cops'" is the perfect marriage of A&E's successful crime and justice genre with our blossoming paranormal programming that documents real-life accounts of bona fide paranormal investigators," said Robert Sharenow, Senior Vice President, Nonfiction and Alternative Programming, A&E. "And Ryan and his Paranormal State' team continue to bring intense, authentic and emotionally riveting cases to our viewers."
"Paranormal Cops" follows a group of larger-than-life cops who walk one beat during the day as real-life Chicago-area police officers and another at night when they apply their forensic and investigative expertise to paranormal casework. Responding to the pleas of ordinary people who are victimized by distressing and inexplicable activities in their homes and workplaces, as well as taking cases from their day jobs when called upon, these cops bring their no-nonsense approach to hunting ghosts and real-life police skills to separate the fact from fiction and often happen upon results much scarier than the paranormal.
"Paranormal Cops" is produced by North South Productions for A&E. Charlie Debevoise and Mark Hickman serve as Executive Producers for North South Productions. A&E Executive Producers are Robert Sharenow and Elaine Frontain Bryant.
A&E continues to chronicle the case files of the Paranormal Research Society (PRS), a renowned group comprised of Penn State University College Students in season three of the dramatic Real-Life series "Paranormal State." Ryan Buell, the director/founder of PRS, and his college age team of paranormal investigators delve into other worlds to solve a variety of cases. The team uses a cache of resources including Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) recordings, client interviews, video documentation, cutting-edge technologies, old-fashioned research and the help from outside experts such as renowned psychics and demonologists.
In 2008 to date, premiere episodes of "Paranormal State" averaged 1.4 million total viewers, 27% above the 2007 time period average.
"Paranormal State" is produced by Four Seasons Productions Intl and Go Go Luckey Productions for A&E Networks. Gary Auerbach, Julie Auerbach and Betsy Schechter are the executive producers. A&E executive producers are Robert Sharenow and Elaine Frontain Bryant.
