Yvonne
Brown does not see, hear or talk
to Dead People. She only smells
them.

Well lets say ghosts that she says
she can smell when they are near
her or in a American Indian Spiritual
Trance.
Clairalience
(smelling) or Clair-Olfaction
In the field of parapsychology,
clairalience [presumably from late
17th century French clair (clear)
& alience (smelling)] is a form
of extra-sensory perception wherein
a person acquires psychic knowledge
primarily by means of smelling.
This sense is mediated by specialized
sensory cells of the nasal cavity
of vertebrates, and, by analogy,
sensory cells of the antennae of
invertebrates. For air-breathing
animals, the olfactory system detects
volatile or, in the case of the
accessory olfactory system, fluid-phase
chemicals. For water-dwelling organisms,
e.g., fish or crustaceans, the chemicals
are present in the surrounding aqueous
medium. Olfaction, along with taste,
is a form of chemoreception. The
chemicals themselves which activate
the olfactory system, generally
at very low concentrations, are
called odors.
Many animals,
including most mammals and reptiles,
have two distinct and segregated
olfactory systems: a main olfactory
system, which detects volatile stimuli,
and an accessory olfactory system,
which detects fluid-phase stimuli.
Behavioral evidence suggests that
these fluid-phase stimuli often
function as pheromones, although
pheromones can also be detected
by the main olfactory system. In
the accessory olfactory system,
stimuli are detected by the vomeronasal
organ, located in the vomer, between
the nose and the mouth. Snakes use
it to smell prey, sticking their
tongue out and touching it to the
organ. Some mammals make a face
called flehmen to direct air to
this organ.
Olifactional Residual
Haunting: A term used to describe
a ghost that is trapped in a continuous
loop that has a particular smell
associated with them. Another theory
is that an event left a psychic
impression on an area and some people
witness a replay of that scene or
smell.
Yvonne Brown originally
lived in Marshall, Texas when an
accidental chemical problem almost
took her life. She is now a resident
of Miami, Florida. And says she
can smell the differences in living
or dead people just by their odors.
Sometimes they have a foul smell,
so yes they can stink. They can
be recognized by a smell like none
on this earth. I am a real paranormal
ghost hunter and spiritualist so
I believe in the after life - I
have smelt my mothers perfume and
my fathers smoke from his pipe and
cigar. Brown actually was hurt by
muriatic acid, could not speak or
smell or taste for 6 years, and
then it all came back!!! Because
of the accident Brown lost her gall
bladder, died on the table during
that, and had a heart attack, all
because of the muriatic acid...
and that's a true story.
I'm just a Medium
to odors I guess a person who has
a special gift and believe I can
act as a bridge between the world
of the living and the other side.
Sometimes I can stick out my tongue
and taste a ghost in the air some
say I'm Clairgustance ( Clear -
tasting) also. And I can go into
a trance like state and smell ghosts
that draw near.
In the field of
parapsychology, clairgustance is
defined as a form of extra-sensory
perception that allegedly allows
one to taste a substance without
putting anything in one's mouth.
It is claimed that those who possess
this ability are able to perceive
the essence of a substance from
the spiritual or ethereal realms
through taste.
It was in 1998
in the small town of Marshall texas,
she was working on a clean out crew
for a company, and the guy gave
her a unmarked bottle of liquid
to clean a shower stall out with
and told her it was bleach ( But
It wasn't). She was in a small enclosed
shower stall on her hands and knees,
poured the liquid out, and breathed
it, and blood started coming out
of her eyes, and nose, and mouth.
From that day, until 6 years later,
she could not speak.
During that time,
the muriatic acid effected her gall
bladder, which they had to be taken
out, and she died on the operating
table. That surgery took 8 hours.
Then from the med's they were giving
her for her throat (which the acid
ate away) she had a heart attack
and they had to put a splint in
one of her arteries. All during
this time, she has had to go in
and out of the hospital for them
to "scrap " her throat,
because the scar tissue from that
medicine and the acid keeps coming
back. But thank God she can talk
now!!!! The girl has not drank since
she was in high school (i mean nothing),
and the acid effected her liver
also.
In
the Middle Ages, hydrochloric
acid was known to European
alchemists as spirits of
salt or acidum salis. It
is still known as "Spirits
of Salt" when sold
for domestic cleaning purposes
in the United Kingdom today.
Gaseous HCl was called marine
acid air. The old (pre-systematic)
name muriatic acid has the
same origin (muriatic means
"pertaining to brine
or salt"), and this
name is still sometimes
used. Notable production
was recorded by Basilius
Valentinus, the alchemist-canon
of the Benedictine priory
Sankt Peter in Erfurt, Germany
in the fifteenth century.
In the seventeenth century,
Johann Rudolf Glauber from
Karlstadt am Main, Germany
used sodium chloride salt
and sulfuric acid for the
preparation of sodium sulfate
in the Mannheim process,
releasing hydrogen chloride
gas.
Muriatic or hydrochloric
acid causes severe irritation
or burns to skin and eyes.

Hydrochloric acid is the
aqueous solution of hydrogen
chloride gas (HCl). It is
a strong acid, and the major
component of gastric acid.
It is also widely used in
industry. Hydrochloric acid
must be handled with appropriate
safety precautions because
it is a highly corrosive
solution.
Hydrochloric acid, or Muriatic
acid by its historical but
still occasionally used
name, has been an important
and frequently-used chemical
from early history, and
was discovered by the alchemist
Jabir ibn Hayyan around
the year 800. It was used
throughout the Middle Ages
by alchemists in the quest
for the philosopher's stone,
and later by several European
scientists including Glauber,
Priestley, and Davy in order
to help establish modern
chemical knowledge.
From the Industrial Revolution,
it became a very important
industrial chemical for
many applications, including
the large-scale production
of organic compounds, such
as vinyl chloride for PVC
plastic, and MDI/TDI for
polyurethane, and smaller-scale
applications, such as production
of gelatin and other ingredients
in food, and leather processing.
About 20 million metric
tonnes of HCl gas are produced
annually.
Hydrochloric acid was first
discovered around 800 AD
by the alchemist Jabir ibn
Hayyan (Geber), by mixing
common salt with vitriol
(sulfuric acid). Jabir discovered
many important chemicals,
and recorded his findings
in over twenty books, which
carried his chemical knowledge
of hydrochloric acid and
other basic chemicals for
hundreds of years. Jabir's
invention of the gold-dissolving
aqua regia, consisting of
hydrochloric acid and nitric
acid, was of great interest
to alchemists searching
for the philosopher's stone.
Hydrochloric acid in high
concentrations forms acidic
mists. Both the mist and
the solution have a corrosive
effect on human tissue,
with the potential to damage
respiratory organs, eyes,
skin, and intestines. Upon
mixing hydrochloric acid
with common oxidizing chemicals,
such as bleach (NaClO) or
permanganate (KMnO4), the
toxic gas chlorine is produced.
To minimize the risks while
working with hydrochloric
acid, appropriate precautions
should be taken, including
wearing rubber or PVC gloves,
protective eye goggles,
and chemical-resistant clothing.
The hazards of solutions
of hydrochloric acid depend
on the concentration. The
following table lists the
EU classification of hydrochloric
acid solutionsThe Environmental
Protection Agency rates
and regulates hydrochloric
acid as a toxin.
The philosopher's stone
(Latin: lapis philosophorum;
Greek: chrysopoeia) is a
legendary substance, supposedly
capable of turning inexpensive
metals into gold; it was
also sometimes believed
to be an elixir of life,
useful for rejuvenation
and possibly for achieving
immortality. For a long
time it was the most sought
after goal in Western alchemy.

Brown was diagnosed
with Anosmia - lack of ability to
smell. Many believed when she said
she could smell ghosts they believed
she had Phantosmia - "hallucinated
smell", often unpleasant in
nature. Now a days she is believed
to be Hyperosmia - an abnormally
acute sense of smell.
Olfaction, taste
and trigeminal receptors together
contribute to flavor. The human
tongue can distinguish only among
five distinct qualities of taste,
while the nose can distinguish among
hundreds of substances, even in
minute quantities.
Brown who is half
German half American Indian did
not know what to do. She used to
have this Cherokee indian Chief
medicine man friend that lived down
on Caddo lake that would come and
burn sage over her and chant to
try and make her better. The Great
Chief grew all his own herbs and
special food for her to eat, Also
he would only eat stuff that came
out of Caddo lake like muscles and
Fish. Before he died he told Brown
he would cure her. if not when he
was alive but after his death. The
day he died Brown got her ability
to smell back at the exact moment
he left this world.
When Brown got
the sense of smell back it was a
great day to celebrate. But the
ghosts began to turn up that very
day also.
I think I just
can smell Ectoplasm says Brown.
You know the residue left behind
by ghosts or other paranormal phenomena.
Many times ectoplasm is seen as
a smoky film in photos. I also can
tell you the smell of real Orbs.
Orbs the phenomenon in the shape
of a floating ball of light, often
thought to be souls or spirit energy.
Some theories state orbs are the
form spirits travel in.
I don't know if
you would call what I have, says
Yvonne as a Sixth Sense a term used
to describe psychic ability. But
that's all I can do when it comes
to haunting's. I don't even call
myself a Psychic or ever consider
myself a person who uses empathic
feelings to tap into nonphysical
forces of what's paranormal. "
To me it's just normal ."And
I sometimes smell more dead people
in day then living ones."
"I feel so
alone in this, " says Brown
." I'd Like to meet others
with my gift but how do you strike
up a conversation and most people
in ghost groups just don't take
you serious." " If you
ever smell the dead coming to visit
you , then you know it"

The strange smell
of a Trance Medium has always caught
Brown off guard. This smell or form
of mediumship in which the medium
shares his or her energy with a
spirit through the use of trance.
The persons will not only pick up
the ghosts mannerisms but also their
smell and it will linger for days
she states. A famous Trance medium
from Pennsylvania invited her to
a Seance once and Brown tells that
the ghost that came smelled like
a bad bowel movement or fertilizer.
In time Brown
learned to understand the smell
of the living and those that are
dead. The dead she says have combination
smells of equal proportions the
living have smells also but they
have usually one dominate odor compared
to several mixed like a ghost.
A freshly dead
persons ghosts usually smells like
a bad refrigerator or one that has
been shut off for a few weeks and
left in the hot sun. The smell of
a Paranormal Vortex is very different,
the tornado-like mass of air, water,
or energy that spins around very
fast -- creating a vacuum to pull
objects into its empty center. In
supernatural studies, a vortex is
an energy mass that is a temporary
opening to the other side, this
can be the result of spirit energy
in motion. The smell is a cross
between rotting shrimp and strong
roach or ant pesticides.
Poltergeist: German
term which literally translates
to “noisy ghost.”but
they can be smelly too says Brown.
This phenomenon of stinky poltergeist
is more often experienced than seen.
" They smell like a rotten
egg with a hogs fart, and raw sewerage
mixed in for good measure says Brown.
A poltergeist will often interact
with its environment by moving objects,
making noises, or making itself
known in a variety of other ways
and one which is not often spoken
of is stinking up a house... Some
theories state poltergeists are
related to the emotional state of
a person living in the environment.
I once came a cross a Poltergeist
in Texas that smelled like old sneakers
and burnt roast.
Discarnate Spirits or ghost –
having no material body or form
have a smell like kerosene, onions
and dried dog food..
Shadow people or black Apparition
smell like burnt toast and cabbage
with a touch of lilac. The visual
appearance of any spirit, ghost,
or unusual phenomenon that doesn’t
necessarily take on the shape
of a human form nor does it show
signs of intelligence or personality
often smell like enamel paint
and new plastic.
Leap
Castle Roscrea, Ireland
===========
Another source of evil
was found at Leap Castle
that may have compounded
and nurtured the spirit
of the elemental. A hidden
ubliet (a dungeon) was
found off the bloody chapel.
It was a small room with
a drop floor. Those who
were forgotten within
this room suffered unimaginable
pain and misery until
their death. Prisoners
would be pushed into the
room to fall through the
floor and land on a spike
eight feet below.
If you were not lucky
enough to die quickly
on the spike, you died
of starvation
in a doorless room while
the aroma of food and
the sounds of merriment
drifted up from the rooms
below. A narrow window
would let you watch those
who came and went in freedom
from the castle. Around
c.1900 workmen who where
hired to clean out the
ubliet made a hideous
discovery, human skeletons
laid piled on top of each
other. It took three full
cart loads to remove all
of the bones. Among the
bones workmen found a
pocket watch made in the
1840's. It is not certain
if the dungeon was still
in use then.
The Smelly Ghost
=================
In 1909, Mildred Darby
wrote an article for the
Journal Occult Review,
describing her terrifying
ordeal. "I was standing
in the Gallery looking
down at the main floor,
when I felt somebody put
a hand on my shoulder.
The thing was about the
size of a sheep.
Thin gaunt and shadowy...,
it's face was human, to
be more accurate inhuman.
Its lustful eyes which
seemed half decomposed
in black cavities staring
into mine. The horrible
smell one hundred times
intensified came up into
my face, giving me a deadly
nausea.
It was the smell of a
decomposing corpse.
The elemental is thought
to be a primitive ghost
attaching itself to a
particular place. It is
often malevolent, terrifying
and unpredictable.
More on the Castle
==================
Leap Castle now has a
weird reputation for frightening
haunting's.
An evil-smelling creature,
half human and half beast,
exuding
an abominable stench,
is said to roam its lower
regions.
Curious locals are said
to have experienced them
unwittingly.
Moreover, the gruesome
discovery of heaps of
human bones on the
floor of the wailed-up
dungeon or oubliette,
and of hooks
(used for executions or
hangings) in an adjacent
field, known
locally as "Hangman's
Acre", have given
added credence to the
tales of these manifestations.
There is certainly an
extraordinary
eeriness about the place
which intrudes on the
senses as one
approaches the tower.
Leap Castle now belongs
to an Australian
who plans to restore it
and so dispel the obnoxious
spectre.

The majority of
Ghosts that Brown has come across
all have personal distinctive
smells. When I was in Galveston
Texas on Dash Beardsley's Ghost
of Galveston Island I smelled
the smell of Bacon and burnt
rubber with a touch of singed
hair. This particular ghost
followed me on the entire tour.
In Savannah a ghost that smelled
like vanilla Air freshener and
banana cream pie and cheap spray
paint did the same thing.
In California
just recently I smelled a ghost
that smelled like coffee and
Limburger cheese. I told this
to the lady I was staying with
and she said that's what her
mother hade the morning she
died. Says Brown.
I just moved to
a new home in Coral Gables.
And I keep selling a ghost that
visits that smells of Turkey
and the air taste like chicken
livers when he is near. I often
find my self getting hungry
when he is near.
Brown reacts to
the presence of a ghost in the
photo below on a recent ghost
hunt in Little Havana.
The particular
ghost haunts a business and
is very foul she states his
smell makes me gag when near.
To describe it I would have
to say it smells like the foulest
dump and has a damp moldy aroma.
Brown went along with several
other Miami local Ghost Hunters
to the location and when ever
she smelled him, other instruments
like EMF detectors and digital
recorders photos showed his
presence.
