Paranormal Investigations From A Ghost Hunting Case Book:
"Investigating real claims of hearing voices, strange sights and supposed paranormal activity" and taking it seriously!
By Tamilia Easter Jackson
Many haunted individuals seem to want validation that they are not going insane, and that the very real to them paranormal activity they are experiencing in their homes or life is not part of the onset of a bonafide mental illness. Though many people around the world do have real paranormal expeirences their or of course those that just think they do.
"Today I can hear a strange humming mechanical sounding voice talking to me directly."
"And it even spoke my name and talked about a situation I had just recent;y had on a local ghost tour."
"Another time I heard a cat meowing loudly in the hallway."
"I don't own a cat."
A new haunted individual from Kehma, Texas reported this to me over the phone. Her problem she said is she thought she was haunted by a ghost that she had picked up on a local ghost tour in her town. The ghost she went on to tell even would touch her and actually make her feel as if something was crawling on or under her skin. She also reported to me that she could see orbs and strange lights floating in her home and before her eyes day and night. And also mans shadow being always in the corner of her eye. The biggest and most perturbing fear any paranormal investigator faces when such a case is presented is dealing with a person haunted like this is that they might be suffering from mental health problems, drugs or a case of serious schizophrenia.
The symptoms of true a true schizophrenic are categorized by a feeling or crawling sensation on the skin. Hearing distinct sounds and most notably voices when no one has spoken or they are alone at home. Seeing patterns, lights, beings, or objects that just aren't there. All this is what many beleieve are all atributed to actual real hauntings today.
Hearing things (auditory hallucinations) is more common in psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia, although it may sometimes occur with high doses of cocaine, amphetamines, or other stimulants. Though many paranormal investigators do not ask their clients point blank what medications their on or if they are drug users, the point must be stressed that in investigating the paranormal one must investigate what a haunted individuals life is all about to make any real assessments valuable to be documented. High doses of stimulant drugs can make you feel as though there are bugs crawling on or just under the skin. In some cases, hallucinations may be normal. For example, hearing the voice of, or briefly seeing, a loved one who has recently died can be a part of the grieving process.
The term schizophrenia is commonly misunderstood to mean that affected persons have a "split personality". Although some people diagnosed with schizophrenia may hear voices and may experience the voices as distinct personalities, schizophrenia does not involve a person changing among distinct multiple personalities. The confusion arises in part due to the literal interpretation of Bleuler's term schizophrenia. The first known misuse of the term to mean "split personality" was in an article by the poet T. S. Eliot in 1933.
A person diagnosed with schizophrenia may experience hallucinations (most reported are hearing voices spooky sounds such as footsteps, moaning and crashes of heavy objects). If the delusions are judged to be bizarre, or hallucinations consist of hearing one voice participating in a running commentary of the patient's actions or of hearing two or more voices conversing with each other, only that symptom is required above. The speech disorganization criterion is only met if it is severe enough to substantially impair communication.
In several paranormal investigation cases many individuals often report ghost speaking to them directly. They state they can hear a voice calling their name or talking to them directly. Sometimes the voices are clear other times just mumbled whispers. A recent case I personally investigated was with a woman in Marshall, Texas whose husband had recently passed away. She told me she could hear a loud whistling coming from the garage and that when alive her husband would always whistle a tone. Whistling ghosts are not uncommon but she stated that she always heard him practicing his wolf whistle when alive and still heard it after his recent death. Though after three weeks of myself and my team recording evp's at her home no evidence emerged. Though the lady insisted she still heard the whistling and could hear it on playbacks of our video and digital voice recordings documentation though no one else heard or discovered anything of the kind.
The psychiatrist Kurt Schneider (1887–1967) listed the forms of psychotic symptoms that he thought distinguished schizophrenia from other psychotic disorders. These are called first-rank symptoms or Schneider's first-rank symptoms, and they include delusions of being controlled by an external force; the belief that thoughts are being inserted into or withdrawn from one's conscious mind; the belief that one's thoughts are being broadcast to other people; and hearing hallucinatory voices that comment on one's thoughts or actions or that have a conversation with other hallucinated voices. Although they have significantly contributed to the current diagnostic criteria, the specificity of first-rank symptoms has been questioned. A review of the diagnostic studies conducted between 1970 and 2005 found that they allow neither a reconfirmation nor a rejection of Schneider's claims, and suggested that first-rank symptoms be de-emphasized in future revisions of diagnostic systems.
Many people believe they also hear ghost carrying on conversations with other ghosts. A couple in Lufkin Texas I met earlier this year told me of how they had bought a well known haunted house after hurricane Ike. They emphasized how neither had really believed in ghost and paranormal phenomena.
In the first few months of living in their new abode the husband began to hear two ghosts carrying on lengthy conversations. At first he thought their was a radio plugged in to a talk show. he would search the house each night inside and out to try to hear where the talking was coming from. His wife at that point never heard a sound. The voices were distinctly of a mans voice and the other voice would be a different one each night some times a woman. Though the voices her husband said were audible he could never understand the words they were saying. The couple even thought it was his dental work picking up radio waves, or possibly a neighbors television or radio playing loudly enough so only her husband could hear it.
The couple pondered other reasons then just paranormal activity. They thought the husband might have very sensitive hearing or possibly crossed wiring in the house were picking up the sounds. Once again my investigation fell short and no phenomena was documented though when playing back video from the home the husband said he heard the voices distinctively several times on the video.
In further investigation of the home we found out that the past owner had died at the residence. in speaking with the daughter she said her father always listened to talk radio. Especially a big fan of Coast to coast with George Norry. The new owner turned on the radio show one night and reported to me that that was the mans voice he heard repeatedly actually identifying it as Norry. One might begin to believe here that the husband was hearing radio waves in his head each night of Coast To Coast Am playing live in his head. I then began to research and ask more questions of the couple. I found out that both were taking several medications since they both suffered from the stress of losing their home and all their possessions when the lost it all because of hurricane Ike.
In the months that followed husband became comfortable with the audible haunting until his best friend of 35 years passed away unexpectedly while staying at their home for a weekend visit. Then he began to see shadows and glimpses of a figure in their home day and night.
When the husband went to his doctor for a check up and told him of his many encounters since hurricane Ike and recent death he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. His wife was told that a person who begins to hallucinate and hear voices and is detached from reality should get checked by a health care professional right away, because many medical conditions that can cause hallucinations may quickly become emergencies. A person who is hallucinating may become nervous, paranoid, and frightened, and should not be left alone. Though both believed the simpler explanation was that they were being haunted by ghosts.
Hearing Voices Movement is a philosophical trend in how people who hear voices are viewed. It was begun by Marius Romme, a professor of social psychiatry at the University of Limburg in Maastricht, the Netherlands; and Sandra Escher, a science journalist, who began this work after being challenged by a voice hearer as to why they could not accept the reality of her voice hearing experience. Followers of the Hearing Voices Movement advocate the use of techniques employed by those who have successfully coped with their voices. This can include acceptance and negotiation with the voices.
The Hearing Voices Movement can be said to have been established in 1987, by Romme and Escher, both from the Netherlands, with the formation of Stichting Weerklank (Foundation Resonance), an organization for voice hearers and others interested in this phenomenon. In 1988, an organization The Hearing Voices Network was established in England, with the active support of Romme.
In following years, further networks have been established in other countries including Italy, Finland (1995), Wales, Scotland, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Germany (1998), Norway, Denmark, Japan (1996), Israel, New Zealand, Australia and the USA (2006). In 1997 a meeting of voice hearers and mental health workers was held in Maastricht to discuss developing the further promotion and research into the issue of voice hearing. The meeting decided to create a formal organizational structure to provide administrative and coordinating support to the wide variety of initiatives in the different involved countries. The new network was called INTERVOICE (The International Network for Training, Education and Research into Hearing Voices).
INTERVOICE holds annual steering group meetings, encourages and supports exchanges and visits between member countries and the translation and publication of books and other literature on the subject of hearing voices.
INTERVOICE was incorporated in 2007 as a not for profit company under UK law. Its president is Marius Romme. INTERVOICE is supported by people who hear voices, relatives and friends and mental health professionals including nurses, psychiatrists and psychologists. INTERVOICE members assert that the most important factor in the success of their approach is the importance placed on the personal engagement of the people involved, meaning that all participants are considered an expert of their own experience. They see each other first as people, secondly as equal partners, and thirdly as all having different but mutually valuable expertise to offer. This can either be through direct experience of hearing voices or having worked with voice hearers (and/or a desire to be involved).
INTERVOICE is critical of psychiatry in relation to the way the profession generally understands and treats people who hear voices and holds that their research has led them to the position that schizophrenia is an unscientific and unhelpful hypothesis which should be abandoned.
The Hearing Voices Movement regards itself as being a post-psychiatric organisation, positioning itself outside of the mental health world in recognition that voices, in their view, are an aspect of human differentness, rather than a mental health problem and that, as with homosexuality (also regarded by psychiatry in historical times as an illness), one of the main issues is about human rights. As with homosexuality, members of the movement intend to change the way society perceives the experience, and psychiatry's attitude will follow.

A graduate of Wiley College Tamilia Easter Jackson has lived in Marshall, Texas all her life.
As the founding member of Marshall, Texas Ghost Finders she and her group of 50 other students have hunted for ghost and paranormal activity through out the City of Marshall, TX.
Jackson loves to investigate local and statewide ghost stories and what others call Texas most haunted hotspots. Her passion is re investigating the investigations of other paranormal investigators. "I love double checking the work others have put out there only because I want to find out the truth rather then to just take someone for their word." States Jackson.
Many haunted locations Jackson believes are not haunted like others tend to believe, or make them out to be. Many she tells are often haunted by ghosts that others assign fictitious names and stories too.
"I have found that through my actual research into these paranormal Texas hotspots that the ghosts that haunt those that hunt them are often ghosts that paranormal investigators bring along with them." Tells Jackson.
When asked what was her favorite Texas ghost to investigate Jackson tells of her growing up as a child and being haunted in Marshall as a very common thing. From hunting for the goat man to investigating Crybaby Bridge and the tall tales of Texas Devil's and the La Lorna.
Jackson... Since she was a child she has had over 30 or more personal encounters with the actual real ghost of the White Lady of Marshall, Texas.
Who is The White Lady Ghost
A White Lady is a type of female ghost purported to appear in many rural areas, and who is supposed to have died tragically or suffered trauma in life. White Lady legends are found around the world. Common to many of them is the theme of losing or being betrayed by a husband or fiancee. They are often associated with an individual family line, as a harbinger of death. When one of these ghosts is seen it indicates that someone in the family is going to die.
Generally, the aspects of this phenomena are that the ghost is female, dressed in late era Victorian garb, seen along a rural road, and associated with some local legend of tragedy.
