Probably the first line of Mollie Stewart’s
book, GHOSTS AMONG US, says it all: “I
deal with the dead for a living,”
she writes, and this is a bona fide fact.
In this short and easy-to-read, self-published
by Mollie when she began to make a name
for herself in the field of paranormal investigation,
the reader is asked not so much to believe
in ghosts and hauntings as to accept the
fact that there are things in the world
around us that defy easy explanation.
This is the world Mollie Stewart inhabits
every day, as founder and guide for her
Salem-based Spellbound tours, as active
paranormalist and ghost hunter in New England
and beyond, Mollie’s daily fare is
composed of things that would make the average
person jump out of his or her skin!
In GHOSTS AMONG US Mollie shares with us
her background and some real-life experiences
that piqued her curiosity and fascination
with the unseen and ultimately led her to
the career she so enjoys today. As Mollie
describes other experiences that she has
shared with people over the years there
is little doubt that there’s definitely
“something in it” when it comes
to the paranormal.
A one-time resident of New Orleans,
the “most haunted city in America,”
Mollie describes in detail her early
first steps in the realm of ghost-hunting
and investigation. She provides several
real-life accounts of the unexplainable
and just plain creepy in popular places
such as Pierre Maspero’s Original
Slave Quarters restaurant, Odd Fellows
Rest Cemetery (where she is accompanied
by one of Haunted America Tours’
Top Ten Voodoo Priestesses, Bloody Mary
Milan), and the infamous Myrtles Plantation.
In each account, Mollie gives dramatic
details of the strange occurrences and
backs these up with factual accounts
based on the assessment of paranormalists
and spirit mediums on the scene at the
time of the investigations. She also
gives a spine tingling, first-hand account
of the prison hauntings on famous Alcatraz
Island, CA. |

As Mollie’s career grew and expanded,
her life path ultimately led her to New
England where she settled directly into
the hotbed of the supernatural, the Witch
City of Salem, Massachusetts. Here Mollie
founded Paranormal Investigators of New
England and Spellbound Tours, the most popular
witch, ghost and vampire tour in Salem.

her personal haunted Ghost Hunt and Ghost
Photo experience at Gallow's Hill Park
In GHOSTS AMONG US, Mollie describes just
a few of the many haunted locations visitors
can experience with her and Spellbound Tours
and she recounts personal experiences in
what is probably the creepiest place in
all Salem, the dreaded Gallows Hill where,
in the Witch Trials of 1692, so many falsely
accused of witchcraft where hung until dead.
Mollie’s atmospheric retelling of
her own impressions of this spot are a highlight
of the book.
Moreover, Mollie Stewart provides one of
the most succinct assessments to date of
the elusive Spider Gates Cemetery –
infamous among ghost hunters and paranormal
enthusiasts as one of the strangest burying
grounds in New England; it has been alternately
described as “moving around”
on its own to elude investigations or as
not existing at all. Mollie, however, gives
a chill-inducing account of a visit to this
infamous place that stays with the reader
long after the book has been set aside.
All in all, Mollie Stewart’s GHOSTS
AMONG US is an enjoyable and easy read,
a book that is perfect for this time of
year, in fact, and would be ideally suited
to reading beside a campfire or by the flickering
light of a Halloween jack-o-lantern!
