THE HAUNTED BOY: THE SECRET DIARY OF “THE EXORCIST”
The Booth Brothers Score another Hit with This Paranormal Powerhouse
“While filming a haunted asylum in St. Louis, Missouri, documentary filmmakers uncover a secret diary of the infamous 1949 exorcism involving a 13 year-old boy possessed by the devil that later inspired the book and movie, ‘The Exorcist’. Utilizing hi-tech paranormal gadgetry along with a legion of supernatural experts, they search out to capture the scariest entity known to man, ‘The Unholy Ghost’. Nothing you have ever seen or heard before gets you closer to the ungodly truth of what really happened in this most terrifying, best selling story of all time! This is the untold-real story of ‘The Exorcist,’ a chronicle of true events based on the actual priest’s secret diary the world was not to see, Until Now!” – Spooked Productions
In The Haunted Boy paranormal “dream-team” filmmakers Christopher Saint Booth and Philip Adrian Booth investigate the real-life events that inspired author William Peter Blatty’s book and the wildly-popular film, “The Exorcist” and take us on a journey into a reality that is frightening yet ultimately inspiring.
With guidance from surviving family members, clergy, and eyewitnesses, and unlimited access to never-before-seen files and artifacts, the Booth Brothers and their team of paranormal experts journey in the very steps of the boy who was tormented by demons and the Devil himself before being delivered from possession by the rite of Catholic exorcism.
The many fans of the original “Exorcist” book and movie, and those who have read and enjoyed Possessed, the 1993 book about the event by author Thomas B. Allen, will be pleased to find that The Haunted Boy fills in many of the gaps left by those works. It answers many of the lingering questions, not only about the lives and works of the priests involved in the gargantuan effort to free the possessed boy (in particular Father William S. Bowdern, S.J., who was the lead exorcist during the rites), but also about the unnamed victim himself who, we learn, went on to lead an apparently normal and productive life following his deliverance.
In their own unique and compelling style, the Booth Brothers adeptly guide the viewer through haunting locations connected to the original exorcism, including the asylum and house where the possessed boy was confined – and his demons confronted – during his possession. In each location, the paranormal professionals assembled by the Booth Brothers use every tool at their disposal to search for residual evidence and whether the demonic entities exorcised from the boy still pollute the locations, even after all these years.
The Booth Brothers can also be commended for not missing an opportunity to educate the general public about the dangers of the paranormal; the film includes footage of the brothers speaking to a classroom filled with students approximately the same age as the possessed boy when he began experimenting with the Quija board, the singular object believed responsible for bringing about the harrowing circumstances of the Haunted Boy’s demonic possession and torment. The Booth Brothers also provide further evidence of the dangers of Quija through interviews with individuals who have experienced psychic and physical attacks – even contact with infamous serial killers! – through ignorant experimentation with the board.
The film culminates in a visit to the actual, real-life childhood home of the possessed boy – the place where it all began – and the “pay-off” is a big one! With the help of professionals such as Greg Myers and Sandra Oates of Missouri’s Paranormal Task Force, and medium Vicki Main, R.N. drawing on the help of St. Michael the Archangel, the Booths confront the demonic entities still lurking at the location. Several graphic scenes – including a demonic attack on expert Greg Myers – prove that the Booth Brothers have no fear of “pushing the envelope” when it comes to confronting true evil face-to-face.
Input from individuals such as Father Francis X. Cleary, S.J., and Father W. Faherty, S.J., witnesses to the actual 1949 exorcism, and Thomas Sachy, M.D., a Forensic Criminal Psychiatrist who specializes in the study of genuine possession, and poignant remembrances by relatives such as Eileen Dreyer, the great-niece of Fr. William Bowdern, the man who – in faith alone – faced down the Devil himself, help to round out this thrilling exploration of one of the most enduring and disturbing events in paranormal history.
One viewing of The Haunted Boy should leave no doubt in anyone’s mind that possession by demons is a very real danger to humankind. To their credit, however, the Booth Brothers choose not to allow the darkness of the subject to be all that we take away from the record of their experiences. In the end, The Haunted Boy, for all its oppressive subject-matter and disturbing evidence of the reality of hell, successfully reaffirms in the viewer a faith in the goodness of mankind, and an admiration for the faith and courage those who deal directly with the supernatural must draw on every day.
With moody music created especially for the film by Christopher Saint Booth, paranormal evidence such as real-time EVPs and camera-captures, and disturbing archival, architectural, and expert evidence, the Booth Brothers’ The Haunted Boy is a do-not-miss for Halloween and a must-own for paranormal experts and fans alike.

Review
As a journalist the facts we learn about this case is intense. The filmmakers start with an investigative look into the hidden diary of the real Exorcist and then discover the lost Exorcism Room furniture (bed, desk, cross) said to be haunted and sealed in cold storage. They didn't stop there as they tell us about the boy's bed sheets containing devil's messages. Paranormal evidence includes shadows, EVP's, hot and cold spots, light abnormalities and a cross shaped burn mark on one of the investigators. One Hell of a show. A must see for paranormal and horror fans. --Movies Online

Five college girls who were attending an initiation party (themed "Truth or Scare") wake up inside an abandoned sanatorium. They are told (via a speaker system within the system) that they must spend five hours within the sanatorium, each on a separate floor. The girls are warned that they must survive five ghosts during the night. Each girl finds newspaper clippings from the 1930s, and they learn that the sanatorium had previously been used during the so-called "White plague," and that thousands died from the disease - while many others killed themselves in the hospital. Although this starts off as prank, both the girls and the prankster find themselves in a fight to prevent history from repeating itself. They discover that there is only one way out of the sanatorium - the tunnel underneath the hospital, nicknamed the "Death Tunnel," as it was used to transport all of the bodies out of the hospital.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium, located in Louisville, Kentucky, opened in 1910 as a two-story hospital to accommodate 40 to 50 tuberculosis patients. It has been popularized on television as being one of the "most haunted" hospitals in the eastern United States, and was seen on ABC/FOX Family Channel's Scariest Places On Earth as well as VH1's Celebrity Paranormal Project. It was also seen on the Sci Fi Channel's Ghost Hunters.
The current plan for the sanatorium is to turn it into a hotel that will cater to the haunted hotel crowd as well regular hotel patrons.
There have been several hauntings in different forms to be confirmed by multiple visitors to the grounds. While Room 502 and the Death Tunnel are nearly synonymous with Waverly Hills, those familiar with the hospitals paranormal history have either heard or seen the child known simply as "Timmy". While no real history into the child's human life is known, there have been scattered claims that the young ghost enjoys playing interactive games, such as hide and seek. There have been reports of sudden temperature plummets in an area or room as well as people feeling "cold spots" in various areas or even the sensation of a physical contact as that of a person's hand. There are even reports of an elderly woman, wrists chained and bleeding (most likely from the geriatric hospital days) running out of the front door pleading for help. Still others outside the hospital have made claims of rooms lighting up briefly despite there being no electricity since the hospital closed.
- Other forms of paranormal activity reported to be found in the hospital include: "Shadow People" (Apparitions shaped as a human but with no physical detail); Orbs (Balls of light that inexplicably appear on film but not to the naked eye), and Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) Recordings, which are essentially voice "footprints" left behind by a spirit without any physical form necessarily connected to it that are usually heard best through a special high-power audio recorder that then plays back what one might not have heard on their own.
According to the many ghost hunters and guests that descend upon Waverly Hills, the most common paranormal activity is the phenomenon of shadow people, "moving shadows" that seemingly have substance and are able to "walk" across doorways. They are also supposedly able to block some light when a laser is pointed at them. - Areas of alleged activity include the fifth floor and roof patios, where young children often played atop a rooftop playground.
- Many visitors claim to have seen glowing orbs and plasma in their photographs. Others claim that entire rooms at Waverly Hills light up at night for no apparent reason. Other sightings include various "brown imps" on the grounds.
- Electronic voice phenomenon recordings have been made on the property by various ghost hunters; many claim that their EVP provides factual proof that ghosts do inhabit the old sanatorium. Recorded phrases have included "Get out" and "What kind of hospital is this?" The makers of the movie Death Tunnel and the documentary Spooked both claim that they recorded many such voices and sounds while filming. Many doubt the credibility of both production crews, however.
- On the morning of Halloween 2006, local radio station WXMA 102.3 aired an annual live broadcast from the Waverly site. That year, a listener from Environmental Health Management, a local company, brought in thermal imaging equipment in hopes of capturing anything out of the normal on film. At approximately 8AM EST, two small, child-like figures are caught on film rising from a hallway floor and then disappearing into a wall.

“Children of the Grave” is the highly-anticipated follow-up to the Booth Brothers’ 2006 documentary “Spooked: The Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium” and like its predecessor this film delivers non-stop chills from the very first frame.
Easily one of the most informative and well-researched documentaries in the “para-reality” genre, “Children of the Grave” is also something many other such films are not: genuinely sensitive to the subject matter and respectful of how it is presented.
In “Children of the Grave” the Booth Brothers have assembled a team of leading paranormal experts who together delve into the sad, disturbing history surrounding the thousands of cast-off children who once passed through the somber halls of America’s orphanages. Many of these now-desolate places were likely not much more welcoming when fully-operating generations ago. As the expert cinematography of the Booth Brothers so aptly reveals, some of the larger institutions had all the appeal of oversized mausoleums.
Cast into these grim surrogate Victorian mothers – some of which were still operational well into the 20th century – were the abandoned, the unwanted, the neglected, the abused of America’s children. Stripped of all vestiges of childhood (in many cases even their names were replaced with numbers) the children subsisted in the orphanage netherworld until they were adopted out (sometimes to even worse fates), mercifully outgrew the institutions, or, anonymous and forgotten, died.
And as the Booth Brothers show us, death is only the beginning of the story.
Over a ten-day period, trekking across six states, the Booth Brothers and their team of experts conduct on-site investigations of some of the most notorious orphanages in the Midwestern United States, at least one of which – Pythian Castle – is preserved in good condition.
The viewer watches as each layer of the story of these ill-treated and once-forgotten orphans unfolds through narration and visual imagery that only heightens the tension. The sites are creepy enough on their own, but as the evidence of documented paranormal activity begins to mount, the viewer is transfixed and it becomes immediately obvious that this documentary will merit a second and even a third viewing to absorb everything that is presented.
In two instances – the first being the team’s investigation of the Pythian Castle tunnels and the second being the hunt conducted on demon-haunted Zombie Road – every concept of reality, of what is real and genuine, is challenged by the camera’s unaltered images. The stark reminders of the unseen all around us that are delivered in these segments will thrill “believers” and could give the staunchest skeptic pause.
The paranormal experts chosen by the Booth Brothers each lend a particular focus to the investigation and the film. Authorities such as John Zaffis, Troy Taylor and Rosemary Ellen Guiley anchor the investigation with important facts concerning the nature of hauntings by children; the team in the field, led by Keith Age, Greg Myers and the Booth Brothers themselves, backs up this insight with haunting video and EVP (electronic voice phenomena) captures.
In the end, however, more than attempting to convince us that the ghosts we see are real or that paranormal events can be documented, the Booth Brothers accomplish their true purpose and that is to strip the forgotten children of the grave of their anonymity, to put faces and stories with the numbers etched on tombstones in desolate, lonely cemeteries, and to make them memorable in death so that in a small way they can never be forgotten again.

The DVD much like the documentary itself is bursting with incredible extras in the form of features and much more. Remember this is the unseen version not seen when televised on the Sci-Fi Channel, so in essences you get over 60 minutes more. If you are truly a fan of the paranormal, or a ghost hunter at heart this is the grand daddy of them all. Happy Haunting! --Cinema DVD Reviews

In true Booth Brothers style, this DVD is dark, both literally and content wise. They take you through the case, and also go on side trips to visit contemporary teens who were possessed; Including some discussion of the real woman from the Emily Rose case. The trip through the Watseka case shows us the Victorian age death of a teenage girl and several years later the possession of another girl also in Watseka by the girl who died. Be it true or not, this DVD is entertaining and very very creepy. It's worth watching and keeping in your collection to show for Halloween or other events that warrant the watching of scary DVDs. Sci-Fi Channel is the outlet where the Booth's films are shown. --Las Vegas Examiner Terra King

Angels to Some, Devils to others, no we're not talking about the Hellraiser films. Our journey is an investigation in the form of the recent The Possessed, a documentary covering specific cases of reported possessions. Several instances are featured though the primary one comes in the form of The Watseka Wonder. A rather bizarre case that extends not one generation but an additional possession of another in town. Mary Roff who died at the young age of 18 was a sufferer of seizure episodes and violent fits all her life. In 1877, things were different with many of these case easily dismissed as insanity without the present medial knowledge we have today. Mary Roff is explored, researched and contacted though psychic mediums. The results are startling. The Booth Brothers put together another fine documentary piece that explores this very phenomena. In the course of the film, we also hear about cases such as the Annilease Michel (Emily Rose ) case, Dewi Morlaine, Marcus Tallbull, Kelly March and Michael Jones (who dies 26 times as a primi baby). Each of these cases are documented possession cases that are still highly controversial to this day. The Possessed fits perfectly in with the level of consumer interest in all things supernatural. The product is well done and the story is equally impressive. A haunting piece indeed. --Horror New Net
About Lisa Lee Harp Waugh
LISA LEE HARP WAUGH Is a American necromancer in the 21st century. She is by what may call a real conduit to the world of the dead. She dressers in ceremonial robes, draws magical circles on the floor and commands spirits from Heaven, Hell and all places in between to appear before her and communicate with the living. As a teenager she studied heavily The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish and The Grand Grimoire, the Malleus Maleficarum and anything she could get her hands on by the great by Eliphas Levi, John Dee and the great beast, Aleister Crowley.
A professional Necromancer and founder of the Sorcerers Guild of greater Houston, Texas. Waugh has been practicing and conducting rituals for many paranormal investigators for over 20 years. Waugh also paints many spiritual and common murals and lives in a small Texas town with her three dogs. She also over the years makes ceremonial candles and is active in ghost hunting in the deep South. Summoning the dead to communicate with the living is a natural daily occurrence for Waugh. "I have been doing this since I was a child." " When I lived in Galveston, Texas about 15 years ago, I was introduced to the ancient rights of ceremonial Necromancy as a ritual by a great shaman called Freebird, and because of him and his diligence to the art, I still practice it until this day." "However, if a spirit has something vital to impart to you, they will call upon you, not vice-versa and no ritual is needed".
Necromantic practitioners such as Waugh conducts, and entails respect and reverence not only for the spirits of the dead, but for the spirits of Hell, Heaven and all places in between. Waugh has a large home one room she has painted black where she calls the good spirits. Another painted all black where she calls the infernal spirits.
Waugh is often compared today in her facial features and many similar practices as being a modern Dr. John Dee. He of course was one of the most fascinating characters of the Elizabethan period just as Waugh is recognized as such in modern times. The events of Dee's life are filled with science, experiments, astrology and mathematics which he aligned with magic, the supernatural and alchemy! All of which is Waugh's personal passion and driven honest beliefs. These are also stead fast traditions she does and true in practicing openly. A few of her select followers say she is the actual reincarnation of John Dee. Waugh also practices astrology, and is very continuously studying the Black Arts.
