In the past month I decided to clean
out my family's extensive photo album.
It is a hodge podge of my mother's collection
and was started by my great grandmother
150 to 160 years ago. I believe that
we are looking at "Ghost Photos"
that might go back 100 years or more.
Much to my surprise and delight I found
that they had many photos that I would
readily deem to be "Haunted Pictures,"
or "Ghost Photos," filled
with some ectoplasm effects and weird
glows and smokey blurred figures, and
various ghostly orbs.
I would like to present my submissions
to the www.hauntedamericatours, and
www.hauntedneworleanstours sites, as
what I personally think are actual,
true "Ghost Photos." These
are all mostly unexplainable in my opinion,
and all seem to have some anomalies.
From what I have seen while surfing
the web these could definitely fall
into the category of down right spooky.
I will post more for your sites very
soon as there or 1000s of photos to
go through.
I do not even know many of the people
in the photos I have and only recognize
some of the locations, mostly from my
childhood. Most of these particular
Ghost Photos were taken in New Orleans,
Louisiana and Houston, Texas. Some are
from time spent in Orlando and Key West,
Florida. I have a few of haunted Mississippi
Gulf Coast homes and haunted Arkansas
ghost photos.
I have been an armchair ghost hunter
/ ghost investigator for several years.
I enjoy investigating haunted houses
and ghost stories. But never did I imagine
that an apparent treasure trove of "Ghost
Photos" was in my very possession.
I have looked over many of these ghost
photos with a very discerning eye. I
scanned them, enlarged them and went
as far as calling in my most skeptical
friends and family. They all agree these
photos are strange. I believe they are
genuine ghost photos.
My theory is that the dead cling to
us. I think that ghosts travel with
us come to us at different times or
on special occasions and at tragic times
when we need them most. I would have
to say the ghostly pictures tell me
that these spirits of the dead come
and share moments with us and these
"Ghost Photos" prove that
to me.
I was very intrigued to see that the
same weird things happened in photos
for over 100 years or more. My collection
ranges from the 1800s until present
day. Some are haunted weddings, birthday
parties, holiday and vacation photos.
I think I even have the image of a ghost
dog. So It seems, as everyone states,
you never know when a haunted photo
will turn up or what might trigger an
anomaly.
I find, too, that many spirits, or
ghosts, seem to follow certain people
through their life. I have pictures
of a distant relative from baby pictures
to present day and two out five photos
have something apparently other-worldly
included. I know it's a ghost.
Ghost anomalies also appear in some
of my family vacation pictures to Orlando's
hot spots. And I think Disney world
is really haunted. Photos of my relatives
waiting in line for some of the rides
include the ghostly images of otherworldly
guests waiting along with them. The
most popular ride for ghosts, at least
the ghosts in my family, seems to be
the Tiki Hut Bird House at Walt Disney
World.
One weird photo is of relatives surrounded
by ghosts in Key West, while visiting
some very haunted spots like the Hemingway
house and the bar where there is a hanging
tree in the middle.
Another vacation to the West includes
photos of is of them at the famous Whaley
house and in haunted Tombstone, Arizona.
There are some of my family in front
of the haunted Knickerbocker Hotel in
Los Angeles, and one of my uncle Malcolm
in the bar at the Knickerbocker and
what looks like Marilyn Monroe in the
booth behind him. My uncle Melvin claims
he has photos of very haunted New York
locations.
Chances are if my cousin Debbie Hunt
Gibson is in the "photo" so
is a ghost. It really makes we wonder,
are some people just ghost magnets?
The only constant in those pictures
is her. I realized it was not the location
or time of year the ghost photo was
taken. I can surely assert that. I believe
it's her attracting ghosts, by some
strange "clairvoyant powers"
she claims she has.
Is it that she a natural Medium? I
know that she held many seances when
we were younger and often experimented
with the Ouija board. Many believe my
cousin is comparable to John Edwards
or Mary Jo McCabe. Many said ghosts
would appear at her private seances.
I was not there so I cannot say I witnessed
this. She tells me of how she learned
to develop her sensitivity with Ouija
Boards, and crystal balls, and Tarot
Cards. To the family she is our resident
psychic predicting things and telling
of her ghostly encounters at family
get together's.
I also have found some photos of a
trip to Louisiana's Capitol building
in Baton Rouge where a haunting by former
governor Huey P. Long has been well-documented;
and I have included a photo of what
I personally believe to be the ghost
of Huey P. Long walking the marbled
halls of the Capitol building near the
bullet riddled wall where he fell.
I went recently to the Myrtles Plantation
in St. Francisville, Louisiana, and
brought along my 35mm SLR camera. Over
the years this camera has never failed
me and I have taken it to any number
of locations; I have even loaded it
in the complete darkness of a sports
arena while bands like Led Zeppelin
and the Rolling Stones were onstage
and I have never had it fail me. During
my visit to the Myrtles, while we waited
to take the daily tour, I was able to
take some photos of the unoccupied rooms
of the house. I also took several photos
outside around the gardens and cottages.
I also had the opportunity to take several
photos of the haunted mirror. Imagine
my surprise when I took the film to
the developer and received an envelope
marks "Unexposed" back! It
seems that something or someone at the
Myrtles Plantation did not want me to
have my photos that day.
I really think that everyone should
go through their own family photo albums
and take a good look for haunted photos.
You never know what "Ghost Photo"
might be lurking between the pages,
It might just be the ghost photo find
of a life time.
I am
submitting here the strangest ghost photos
that I believe to be real. Certainly a
few seem to defy explanation. In the future
I hope to post more for your viewing pleasure
and look forward to seeing my submissions
in your upcoming Ghostly Gallery.
