My interest in the world of all that is
strange and of what many call today the
paranormal zone, began with me personally
at a very young tender and innocent age.
One night my father sat at the kitchen table
in our home questioning his faith in God
and in christianity. He prayed very long
and hard. He needed an answer to south his
burning internal pain and torture. This
went on for what must have seemed an eternity
to him, After some time receiving no signs
or concrete proof before him is when finally
he cried out, "Satan if your
real show me some kind of sign that you
are!!"
Nothing happened or so he thought! I was
only four or five years old at the time
and sleeping in the bedroom next to my mom.
I really don't know what actually occurred
that night, but from the recounting of the
story for I was to young or just not me.
My dad said he heard a strange odd noise
a few moments after his query. He got up
from the table to investigate... a bit shaken
I suppose, and upon opening the door to
the bedroom he saw me with a glass vase
in one hand gripping with a strong hold
of my moms hair.
My eyes were completely blood red and strange,
it is what he noted at just a quick glance.
For inside him he knew of course it was
his demand being answered by the devil himself.
He yelled very loud breaking the silence
"In the name of God in Heaven leave
my son alone." As the very words left
his mouth my body fell with a force as if
something otherworldly heard him. My dad
recounts that I seemed as if I just passed
out, and began convulsing wildly next to
my mom on the bed.
They rushed to phone and called the emergency
room which is where I came too. Both of
my parents said after all this I was a normal
happy child again. I have no real actual
recollection of this event to this very
day. But I was forever aware that I was
now conscious of myself and somehow changed.
Normal is the last word I would use to
describe my life since that point in the
emergency room. From the age of 11 to 33,
I pursued a path of intense self destruction
using alcohol and drugs for my personal
instant gratification. I believed in the
supernatural and the Great power of God,
but not enough to turn my life over to something
positive. My great trials and tribulations
were always levels of temptation and almost
always coincidental encounters bordering
on the strange.
The great despair and overly powerful feeling
in my life was that none knew but me. I
felt between two worlds. One of the living
and one of the dead. What truly mattered
to me was trying to numb myself or keep
myself from remembering what had happened.
I know that night that it had a greater
hold on me then I could imagine and deep
in my mind something very evil had left
it's great mark upon me and I was always
afraid it might take me over again. And
it wanted to destroy me just to prove something
to my dad. The more I hurt myself the more
I hurt all those around me.
Finally at the age of 33 I'd had, had more
then enough .I knew I couldn't go on. So
I cleaned up and now have had almost 4 years
of sobriety, my own business and a beautiful
wife and daughter.
My wife introduced me to Haunted Macomb
tours, The original Ghost Tour that t was
started by Garret Moffett, which I now own
and have renamed a Midwest Haunting. I guess
from tortured life I knew what lost spirits
went through and could definitely relate
to them. I think many of them, (the poor
lost ghosts souls or spirits) are all trying
to find the defining moment where they became
lost. Some search for the reason, others
the exact time. From the life I had lived
I see that and have an affinity to understand
their plight. I guess I was a living ghost
at one point!

Man of Macomb, Owner of A Midwest Haunting
And once I was clean I began searching
for ghosts and exploring the supernatural.
Through several years of paranormal investigation
of the buildings's in downtown Macomb, IL
I have experienced so much activity it seems
incredible.
One evening last year while inside the
abandoned Haunted Lamoine Hotel, I sent
a man down a dark hallway while several
people took pictures behind him. All of
them noticed that on their camera screens
the hallway showed up to the end. What showed
up in none of their photos was my volunteer
standing five feet in front of them with
his beeping EMF detector. I could go on
for hours of phenomena that has occurred
on our tours. Allot of people claim that
they see haunting shadows and orbs with
their normal sight.
Various members of the tour groups often
managed to locate "ghosts" using
divining rods, and emf detectors, which
move and react when paranormal activity
is present. Their or often stories about
someone's arm being scratched by ghosts
or being touched or even whispered to by
many that take my tour.
These ghosts supposedly live in the Macomb
Courthouse and the abandoned hotel above
the Macomb Journal. The story is they haunt
these locations because some sort of event
occurred there during their lives that kept
them attached to that place, even in death.
Were preparing to
kick off our 7th successful year. We've
been featured in Midwest Living magazine
and on and on countless TV news channels
and newspapers. Last year we had over 1800
people from Minnesota, Indiana, Chicago,
St. Louis and everywhere in between take
the ghost tours. And believe me this is
the real deal!
